Villas Question

I would really like to do a 1-bedroom villa at the Beach Club next trip, but I have a couple questions:

(1) Do the villas participate in the discounts that Disney offers?

(2) Is it better to book through Disney or through David's Vacation Club (or, if you have a list of pros/cons, that'd be great).

It will most likely be much cheaper booking through David's or another DVC rental outlet. Villas do often participate in discounts, but with Beach Club specifically you run the risk of them booking up before any discounts are released, especially since there are fewer units at Beach Club than most other locations.

Yes once you rent a DVC not book through Disney you do not get any extra discounts. But most members rent for $14/pt so it ends up being the same or cheaper than you getting a public discount.
Before we joined DVC last year we always booked directly with discounts for many reasons but it's totally up to you to rent or not.

Thanks! I'm gonna price both ways out assuming Disney will release the same type of discount during my time period that they have historically. If it's not significantly cheaper to go with Davids, then I'll probably book direct because of all of the convenieces of doing so.
