Videos from attractions

A side discussion on another thread gave me the idea to start this one...

If Disney were to start selling videos (or DVDs) of the films from past and/or present attractions, would you buy them? Which ones would you want to see? For example:

How about all the original Circlevision films on DVD? They could have a menu option where you could change the angle to any one of the nine different simultaneously running screens.

Or how about Captain EO with an audiocommentary track by George Lucas, Francis Coppola and Michael Eisner?

Or possibly the Star Tours and Body Wars films with audiocommentaries by Leonard Nimoy (who directed Body Wars), George Lucas and maybe some Imagineers?

I think it would be a great idea, but I dont think i'd buy a DVD jsut for one or two attractions. Theyd have to put them all on one (or two) DVDs.

I agree, and I would have to see The Making of Me, Cranium Command, Honey I shrunk the Audience (if/when removed), Kitchen Kabaret and a few others on the featured title list.

But the one DVD i would really llike to see them make would most likely be part of the Walt Disney Treasures series, and it would be Walt Disney World. All the opening ceremonies, all the little specials walt did, those "This is how it's gonna be" type shows, Especially the one when he introduced the "florida project" that would probably be 3 discs but hey. It's worth it.

I'd buy it. I'd love to see old construction footage, and just old footage in general, including past attractions and shows. That would be nice.

I agree with Stingrock in that it would be cool to see the construction of the rides as they progressed and then at the end of the video the complete ride. I would love to see older rides especially ones that are no longer there in the mix. I would definetly be interested in those.

I'm really quite suprised that they don't do this already. Seems like a great way to get some Disney magic out to the pulic.:)

I'd buy it, assuming it wasn't <insert Dr. Evil voice>
1 million dollars!!!

I only started visiting the World in 96, so I missed a few of the older attractions.

There are a couple of people on eBay that already sell homemade video of extinct attractions. The quality of the video doesn't approach the professional level Disney would do, but sometimes it's all that exists.

I was able to get some video of "If You Had Wings" from 1980. The low light of the attraction made most of the video a plain black screen, but there were a few moments that were captured fairly well. It was good enough to bring back some memories. The tape also had a decent segment on the old "Home of Future Living" at the end of Space Mountain.

The video also contained a monorail ride around the lagoon. I'd forgotten what the land looked like prior to the Grand Floridian being there. Very interesting.

I actually listen to mp3s of Horizons, IYHW, El Rio, and the monorail narration while I peruse this site. I also put the Tiki Drums and Tiki Room barker bird on loop :hammer:

I would probably go for both Magic Journeys and Captain EO, but in 3D.
