Hi everyone. I just booked victoria and alberts for our 10 year anniversary and am really excited. The whole trip is a surprise to my wife but I know this will really surprise her, we've never shelled out this much money for food before! anyways my question is not owning a suit or dinner jacket I thought I heard one time that they rent jackets there and I was wondering if that was true or not, or maybe I made it up, I hope its true so I don't have to buy one :)

They do have jackets they can loan you, but my understanding is that the jackets are not very nice and don't come in a wide variety of sizes. If you're very tall or broad, they may not have something to fit you. If you're at the opposite end of the spectrum, you'll be swimming in what they have to offer.

Heck, check out your local Salvation Army. You might be able to find something reasonable (albeit a bit out of style) for $10-15. Or MensWarehouse seems to have some for abound $60-70 right now. No idea what a rental would cost for price comparison, but if you are going all out for your 10th, I imagine your wife would be thrilled if you had one of your own that was properly fitted. (I know my wife was even though I have only worn it twice)

i know this may sound silly, but worth a try. when my now son in law needed several suits for a cruise, and had none, being a kid just out of high school, we went to the thrift shop of a hospital in a very ritzy area. we had to drive about 20 minutes out of our way to get there, but i'm talking top name business suits in superb condition. and each was only about 10-25 dollars. CEOs don't wear the same suit often, but take the deduction for donating the $600 suit to the hospital. we had lots of selection and top quality. consider finding yourself a thrift shop in an upscale area, you may be surprised. cheaper than renting and it's yours to use for your 15 year anniversary :)
btw- you are in for the experience of a lifetime. savor every minute of it. the food and the atmosphere are both spectacular. splurge for the wine pairings if you can, they sooo add to the meal. but be warned, each is a full pour. DON'T DRINK THE WHOLE THING, i have accidentally left there unable to find my way home- and we were staying at the Grand Floridian! maybe share with your wife, unless you have more practice at it than I.

My wife and I ate at Victoria & Albert's on our honeymoon and we did the wine pairings. It is a meal we talk about to this day as one of the best culinary we have ever had. We made the mistake of drinking the entire glasses of wine poured with each course, and by the end of the night we were both quite intoxitated. Thankfully, we were staying at the Contemporary so we were only a monorail ride away. Have fun, you are in for a great experience.

I would have to add my vote in for buying one as well. You do not need a full suit and tie, just a sport coat will do. The suggestion to look at a salvation army or goodwill near a well-to-do area is valid. You'd be suprised at the quality of stuff that people give away that can then be had at a very low price.

We ate there on our last trip, and will be booking it for our anniversary next year. It was the ultimate dining experience! We did the wine pairings as well, and I would highly recommend that if you can swing the extra money. Be prepared for the time it takes as well. Our dinner was 3 1/2 hours, but we loved every minute of it!!

I just wanted to share my excitement with other disney people. I went to the salvation army and bought a six dollar dinner jacket that is sweeeet, it really feels like i'm going now. hopefully I can keep this trip a surprise, i've almost spilled the beans like 3 times because i'm so excited.
