Veteran's Day?

Is there anything special happening on Veteran's Day? My hubby just returned from Iraq and we are taking our family vacay to the World. Is there anything special we shouldn't miss?

Sorry, but I have not been able to find anything on the Web. One suggestion I would have is to give Disney a quick call on the phone and ask if they know of anything being done specifically on Veterans Day. Please tell your husband that an everyday dork who has never served in the military named rsoxguy thinks that he is an American hero for serving his Country through military service! Thank you! I hope that you all have a great time celebrating Veterans Day.

If you go over to City Hall in the Magic Kingdom, or whatever they call that first building on the left as you enter the MK, you can sign up to be Veteran of the Day. That can be done any day.

What the Veteran of the Day does is help take down the flag in the MK at about 5 pm. There's a ceremony and a band and the WDW security guards.
Afterwards a Disney manager in a suit gives the veteran a certificate and a rare pin which says 'Veteran of the Day'. Also a free 5x7.

Any veteran of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard can sign up for it.

Lots of times it's the wife who does the signing up because many veterans wouldn't do it themselves.

Tell your Husband thanks very much for his service to his country in the defense of freedom everywhere. I know you two will have a very Happy Veterans Day together at The World. Enjoy yourselves to the hilt.

Glad he's home safely. My brother is a veteran of the first Gulf War. Enjoy your trip.
