Well, our relaxing start to our spring break trip is now bumming us out. We just received notice from DVC that the beach in front of the resort is closed due to dune refurb and we will not have access to the beach while we are there. Not sure why the county would plan work on the beach during a spring break period but we are totally bummed out because that is the reason why we booked there. We love direct access to the beach and just walking up and down each day. Not interested in just sitting by the pool each day. We wouldn't have booked the stay there had we known this was going on. Just really bummed and kind of mad.

That is very unfortunate. My guess is like any planting, the sea oats maybe take hold better in early spring making it harder to do in winter months. Also, your Spring Break is a lot earlier than most, which will be at the end of this month. If of any consolation, that water is probably still pretty cold.

Since we never had to do it before I just hope the nearest access isn't horribly far away. Didn't want to have to hop in the car everyday just to walk on the beach.

If you haven't already done it, head to Sebastian Inlet State Park. There is a lagoon there that might afford you the chance to swim with some manatees around. If nothing else the water is calm and it's a good place to hang out.
