Vegan @ WDW tips
Okay, to start with, I normally bring some items with me and have fresh food delivered by a grocery service (I use Garden Grocer, but there are others). I have DVC, so I have kitchen facilities. I'm not sure where you are going to be staying, but I find this is a huge help. You may want to consider staying at a DVC resort if you are not already - either booking a cash stay or renting DVC points from a member.
When you book your ADRs, mention that you have a vegan in your party, and it will be saved in the ADR system and come up as a note when the restaurant host/hostess retrieves it at the host podium. Most every table service place will be happy to send out a chef to speak to you if you have any questions, or should there not be a real vegan option on the menu.
Parks:
Overall:
There are a number of in-park options, although not always the most exciting. Remember that you can bring snacks in with you like granola or cereal bars which are good in a pinch. All of the snack-stand hot pretzels are vegan, as are the Minnie's frozen strawberry bars. Also, keep an eye out for the fresh fruit carts.
Magic Kingdom:
The best vegan meal here is the Crystal Palace buffet; tons of fresh salads, fruits and dishes made with vegetables and tofu. This is probably the best vegan character meal on property.
Plaza Restaurant has a good Vegetable sandwich, just omit the cheese.
Pecos Bill's and Cosmic Ray's each have Boca burgers and a nice veggie-ful toppings bar.
Salads are also widely available, just check to make sure there is no cheese and that the dressing is vegan.
As a bonus, the Main Street Ice Cream Shoppe always carries Tofutti and Rice Dream; a great treat while watching the fireworks.
Epcot:
The best park for vegan food.
Future World has Sunshine Seasons at The Land which usually has some good choices like fresh salads and Asian noodle bowls with veggies, sometimes tofu.
There is a hummus veggie wrap at the Electric Umbrella.
But when it's time to eat, World Showcase is much more exciting. We'll go from Mexico --> Canada.
Mexico's San Angel Inn has a Plato Vegetariano that everyone should skip.
Kringla Bakeri og Cafe in Norway may have vegan pastries, but make sure to ask. I have heard the Kingla sweet pretzels were vegan but I'm not certain.
China's Lotus Blossom Cafe has a good vegetarian stir fry.
Skip Germany.
Skip Italy, the fresh pasta is made with eggs.
Skip American Adventure.
Japan has some options: Teppan Edo has a tofu salad, and they may be able to do a vegetable croquette or vegetable sushi. Ask to make were there is no fish, fish sauce, or dashi with bonito (katsuobushi). The Yasai should be vegan, but check to make sure. at Tokyo Dining, the Yasai Tempura should be vegan, but as about the oil in which it is deep-fried, it may be the same as that used for meat.
In Morocco, the Tangierine Cafe has a great Vegetarian Plate, just substitute something for the Lentil Salad (it has dairy).
Nothing special in France, but the Boulangerie may have something the day you go, just ask.
In the UK, Rose and Crown has a very good Vegetable Curry dish. It's on the lunch menu, but they will gladly make it for dinner as well. It is quite good.
Canada's Le Cellier has a great Tomato Stack and salad, and they are happy to make something special for you, I have found. I had a great Pasta Primavera a few months ago.
Hollywood Studios:
The Brown Derby has a great tofu dish that is just fantastic.
Rosie's All-American has a Boca burger.
50's Prime Time has a pretty good Stuffed Roasted Pepper.
Animal Kingdom:
Good choices at Rainforest Cafe at the gate.
Boca burger at Restaurantosaurus.
Resorts:
The Hands-Down Best vegan meal at WDW is Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Incredible choices are readily available, and the chefs each time I have gone have whipped something special up just for me, even with an unbelievable dessert. I cannot say enough good things about the food or the staff.
Jiko, next door, has the same quality food and service, albeit for a higher price.
Kona Cafe at the Polynesian also has some great stuff, for any meal.
Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary may not have much on the buffet, but they have been beyond helpful when I have gone and made special items just for me.
Overall, any non quick-service restaurant at WDW will be happy to accommodate your wishes to the extent of their abilities and kitchen resources. Make sure to ask questions about anything which you are not sure. Disney is built on Guest Service, and they strive to please.
I'm happy to answer any specific questions, just drop me a line!
