My best friend and I are planning a trip to WDW for next year (first-timers). We're looking at the value hotels...besides Art of Animation, which would you guys say is the best/coolest? Thank you!
U mean first time booking yourself? Or your friends first time? Having only stayed at the All Star Movie for values so far, I give it a thumbs up! I have stayed at all tiers before and we tried it last Nov. We were in the Toy Story wing, close to the pool, close to the food court and playground! We had a great time there! I do hear good things about Pop a lot ! We were planning on staying there for our next visit.

Thank you for your input! First timers, as in first time going to WDW and booking one of the hotels. My friend went once when she was little, but she doesn't remember, so she doesn't count it. We're from and live in California, so, as you can guess, we're Disneyland folk.

I get ya! Ok! DL is a very different animal from WDW! Research is one of the biggest things I recommend to anyone who has never been to wdw before! Know there is so much to do you won't be able to do it all? How long of a trip are u thinking of staying for and what time of year? Were u planning on doing the dining plan at all?

Oh, I know! It's the main reason I joined this site; I wanted to learn about the Florida resort. We're planning to stay a week, and no dining plan. Just gonna manage on quick service.

I would go with Pop simply because it has its own dedicated bus line. All Stars share a line. It doesn't really matter in the morning when you first go to the parks. But taking a midday break and leaving at the day it makes a difference.

When are u planning on going? If u go durin the fall most dates offer a special free dining discount. Stay at a Value and u get the quick service dining plan for free! It usually goes from sept-dec with a few weeks inbetween that are blacked out! We will be back in th world in Nov and are awaiting the free dining discount to come out which usually is sometime in the summer!

We're going in the summer. I'll definitely look into it.

No
You're going? Yea!:D

Pop or Art of Animation. They are located right next to each other, so you could stay at one and walk over to the other one just to check it out. Pop tends to run a little lower price-wise, not to mention it is the one that generally offers the better deals as opposed to Art of Animation. It's well worth it over an All Star because of the bus service

Yep, we're planing it now!

We want to stay in Art of Animation, but we're trying to figure out a Plan B hotel, in case AoA doesn't work out. Pop Century seems to be the preferred choice.

AOA is a really cool resort, however, you need to remember that the little mermaid rooms (which i assume you are trying to stay in) are very far from the food court and buses! check out a map on Google of the property! either way, no matter what resort you stay at, you will have a blast!

Personally, I prefer the All-Stars to Pop. When Pop was new, I liked it better because the rooms were...newer, with everything that goes along with that.

Now, I like All Star Movies best. It has cute Disney stuff and there is less moss where grass should be, in my experience. But it isn't like there is tons of moss at Pop. I once stayed in a room at Pop that had me smelling something grody, especially in e morning...but that could happen anywhere, I suppose.

If you stay at Pop, you could easily walk over to AoA and see it, if visiting other hotels is your thing.

Location-wise, it's kind of six of one, half a dozen of the other. I don't know if you're bringing a car or bussing. If you're bussing, the transportation gurus might have an opinion on which is better.

But really, it's mostly theme that makes them different - the lobbies and the stuff you see outside. The rooms are itty bitty in all of them, with very little theming in the rooms themselves.

If there is anything I can pick up and mail, snap a picture of or whatever, let me know! I don't offer to send things out for free to everyone (can't afford that!), but you were so helpful with my DL questions that I'd be happy to return the favor. :)

It is extremely humid in Orlando in the summertime. 82 during the winter is lovely. 82 during the summer is horrid. Same temp - completely different experiences. Just a heads up.
