Valentine's Day....

the heart shaped boxes of candy are in the stores already, some arrived the day after Christmas.

I have mixed feelings about Valentine's Day.

on the one hand, I am an incurable romantic. when my ex and I got engaged...well, he proposed on New year's Eve, but didn't give me the ring until Valentine's Day, and our engagement announcements said we got engaged on Valentine's day.

on the other hand, when we got divorced...the judge signed the divorce papers on february 14. (nice timing, your honor.)

so, how does everyone else feel about Valentine's Day?

What an unfortunate coincidence, Songbird. :(

Personally, I don't care one way or the other about Valentine's Day. DH sends me flowers on random days as a "Just because I love you" type thing and often leaves me cute notes, and I love that a lot more than if he did it on the same day every other couple is "supposed" to do ome thing special for their special someone. We exchange cards and DH might buy me some Lindor truffles :slurp::slurp: but that's about it. ;)

I think Valentines Day was fun as a kid, and when we were younger and dating. But after 10 years of marriage, Valentines Day just does not have the same effect! It is hard to get a baby sitter anyway, so we usually do not go out. I usually get flowers and chocolate covered strawberries from my DH, but I usually just give him a card. Now it is really all about the kids...having fun picking out the Valentine cards for their classmates and helping out with the class Valentine party.

I do not like Valentine's Day.
My husband is not a flowers and chocolates kind of guy, and after 34 years of marriage I've gotten to savor a quick hug for no reason, a kiss just because, a "you look really pretty today" more than a card and/or gift given because it is expected.

I think that every day can be Valentines Day if you have the right person in your life.

Of course it is nice to get and give things on Valentines Day but you do not need a holiday to feel or show love..

Everyday unexpected thoughts and gestures that make you know and feel loved are what I like..:)

Who needs a holiday to say I Love you?

I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day at all. I don't need a holiday to remind me that DH and I love each other, and when I was single, it was the most depressing day of the year.
