Vacation Rental Homes

Anybody have a favorite rental home that was of a good deal, exceptional quality and service? I used Families First last year but I'm looking for another that may have more extras.

Please no advice from affiliates or owners of vacation rental homes, at another Disney discussion board there was such a person that was discouraging many from renting at other than what homes he/she offered.

This December will be the 3rd time we've rented a home. The 1st time was through an agent. The 2nd and this time we're renting directly from the owners. The last two owners live in the UK.

Other than one phone call, I've done all transactions by email and snail mail.

So far, so good.

Last year we rented a home just south of 192 about 3 miles from the South World Drive entrance off 192. About a 10-15 minute ride to the MK parking lot. Near mile marker 5 or 6.

This was a 3 bedroom home. For a week and a day it was $600 (all taxes included but no pool heat). The ONLY trouble we had was an attack from fire ants. I think I must have stepped on a mound and brought them into the house. Somehow, they ended up in my shorts!! Let me tell you, it wasn't pleasant!!! I still have a few marks from some of the bites. Wanna see? :)

The place was clean and they even had the latest park maps and brochures. There was a bottle of wine and chips. The fridge had a some milk and some other starter groceries. I wouldn't hesitate renting from him again.

This year we are renting a BIG home. 6 bedroom/4 bath for a party of 10. Should be interesting. With pool heating, it's costing us $1400 (includes taxes) for 10 nights.

Checkout this WEB site. This is where we selected the the last two homes from.

This WEB site show a map of 192 and what's what along it. It also shows where some of the subdivisions are located.

Good luck!

Thanks!
I was wondering if anybody here ever lodged at all outside of WDW...:animwink: We are doing our second trip to Orlando, every year we plan on it way in advance and it MUST be in winter when its cooler in FL. Also because my work is seasonal. In Alaska we are really acclimated to our weather, in the summer we rarely see 80 degree days, normally its about 65-75 and thats just for a month or two. This year I am focussing more on SeaWorld, IOA, USF and not totally on WDW.
Renting a home for a family that travels over 5000 miles, stays about 2-3 weeks and have children with specific food allergies makes it a must for us to cook our own meals, myself I just want peace and quiet, no noisy neighbors or late night parties next door.
