I saw the new Vacation Planning Video for 100 Years of Magic (this is not the same video on sale in the parks) and had a few musings about it...

1. In the Magic Kingdom section they mention that you can see the "attractions that Walt himself planned". They show it's a small world, the Tiki Room, Hall of Presidents, etc... but no Carousel of Progress. It seems the CoP has been snubbed for this celebration.

2. Spaceship Earth appears in a number of scenes but all the shots are pre-2000. No red ribbon lettering on top. I don't think there is any meaning to this, I just found it kind of odd.

3. There are two shots with Mark IV monorails instead of the current Mark VI monorails. Why did they use ten year old footage? Who knows.

If you want a copy of this video for yourself, call up the Disney vacation line and tell them you are thinking about planning a trip, they will probably send you one.

Hey, everybody. For some reason, Disney sent us two of these videos if anyone wants one. The first person to contact me gets our extra video.

Hey me too. We collect those, we have every year since 1996. They used to start adversting them on the easter parade, back when they still put in on T.V. We gave the extra one to friends, but I would love to see the one they send to childrenless couples, the one for kids is full of "seeing Disney through the eyes of your children."

BTW we are going in 2 days!!!!!!!! Hope the weather is great!

Welll... as far as the obvious external differences go, the Mark VI has 6 cars and the IV has 5 or 6 cars. The Mark IV has a large lump above the drive cabs with the light/periscope on it, which is not nearly as noticable on the Mark VI. The Mark VI has sliding doors in pairs while the Mark IV doors are seperate and open manually.

There are tons of internal differences but I won't get into that here. They are really totally different vehicles.
