Vacation planning DVD

So, although I am an old hand at Disney and have visited for all of my 36 years, it's always fun once in a while to get a planning video in anticipation of our upcoming trip. We like to sit on the couch and "discover" new resorts, dining, etc. I just got mine yesterday and I must say, I am so disappointed! There is BARELY any info on the disc, if I was a first timer- there is definitely not enough to make me want to spend thousands on a trip! Sadly, I think once again Disney has dropped the ball. :(

I haven't bothered to order the new one as they have been going "down hill" for a while now. My favorite is still the Happiest Celebration on Earth with Dave & Co. We will watch that one from time to time for our "Disney fix."
Maybe that's the plan- they don't WANT to make them and they are slowly being phased out :(

I ordered one, and watched it. The literature inside seems very determined that I go to my special web site. Haven't checked that out yet. When I got my Mickey Mail, there was another DVD sent separately. Really, didn't like one, what to do with 2?

yeah there probably IS something to the PC part of it, but if I wanted to sit in front of my computer, I'd just go to their site! The whole point of the DVD is for the whole family to sit on the couch together and get excited!

I agree. The pacing of the DVD is so frenetic that you only catch glimpses of things, giving the idea that WDW is, above all, terrifying and confusing. When we tried to use it to show our kids what there was to do, we kept having to pause it and try to explain what they were seeing. We also found 2 out of the 3 "hosts" to be completely annoying.

In the end, we gave up on it and resorted to showing the kids old Disney vacation planning videos from the 90s, which are on Youtube. Even though some of the information was outdated (and some of the attractions gone), they were much more informative, interesting and better paced than the DVDs for 2012 and 2013.

The DVDs are no longer very good. I agree that they must be purposely making them suck, because nobody would watch those things and think, "I just have to go there!"

My husband and I thought the same thing when we got the latest one. We were all excited to watch it and gave up part way through the first time and went back to our older ones. I remember reading somewhere that Disney would like to stop making them to save money on production and mailing. It sure seems that way after watching it.

We got one for our first trip in 2011, I was hoping for so much more info and was a little disappointed. I got more out of the website and doing my own research then the DVD. If I had not been such a Disney Nut the DVD would have not made me want to go and that is very sad
