Vacation Club Rental Advice

I am planning on renting vacation club points for 2014. From what I have read, these are the two that are reliable.

Do you have experience with one of these? Good or Bad?
Is there another one out there that is cheaper or better?
Any advice or web site to lead me through the process because I have not rented points before.
I’ve been to Disney many times but never rented points. After running the numbers, part of me is thinking it’s too good to be true.

Try checking the DVC sub forum as well. Point rental pops up fairly regularly over there.

Its mutually beneficial to both parties. The renter usually make enough on the rental to cover their maintenance fees for the year, and at least a portion of any financing they paid. The rentee gets a deluxe level resort at moderate prices. Don't both comparing your rental costs to MSRP on the villa, compare it to what you would otherwise pay to stay on property. It's like buying a car, almost no one ever pays MSRP for a new car.

Some of the DVC resellers have started to dabble in point rentals, their selection tends to be smaller, but they also usually charge a dollar or two less than the big players.

The time you submit your request depends greatly on what resort you want, and when you want to travel. Want BWV or BCV for a weekend during F&W? You had better get it in before the 11 month window rolls around. Want OKW for midweek in September? You might even be able to take advantage of the cheaper last minute point rentals, and only book a month out. Basically the rental agent is trying to find a DVC owner that has enough points for your trip, at the resort you want. So a more in demand resort, or a wacky number of points might take more time to find someone willing to rent. Otherwise you end up in the general DVC booking window at the 7 month timeframe.

I've had a terrific experience with David's DVC rentals. (dvcrequest.com) I posted a similar thread when I was looking for a rental, and his site got good reviews from folks on this board.

I had also put in a request to the dvcrentalstore site. I got a prompt and friendly response, although they were unable to accommodate my request. David's had the points, so I went with them, and so far, the process has been prompt, professional and thoroughly pleasant. (Wow! Check out my alliteration!)

I wish you well -- I think you'll have a good experience with either site, although David's will be my first choice given our great experience so far.

We are using David's for our stay at the BCV in February. They have been WONDERFUL so far! We really wanted the Beach Club, with Animal Kingdom as our second choice. When we first called, there were no points for BCV during the time we wanted to go. We were about a week from the seven month window, so they told us they would check then. They ended up getting BCV for us! Everyone has been so helpful and friendly. We will see how smoothly things go in February, but so far so good. We are also doing the Disney Magical Express shuttle and the deluxe dining plan.
I think the main difference between David's and the DVCrentalstore is that with David's you have to pay up front the whole amount to book, and I think with DVCrentalstore you can make payments. DOn't quote me on that though!! :)
Also, I think if you do a transaction privately with a DVC owner, you can save a dollar or two per point, but it just made me nervous and I wanted the security of a third party.
Good luck! From what I've learned so far, it's a great way to save on a deluxe resort, especially if you're going at a popular time when there aren't usually good discounts.
