USO timing question...

We're planning on going to Universal Studios on Saturday, February 3rd. Last I checked, the park was open from 9am-6pm. Now it says 9am-8pm, which I'm guessing means they're now expecting a bigger crowd.

Anyway, do you think if we get there around 9-10am that we'll have time to do everything and still make it back to DTD to see Cirque du Soleil for the 6pm show? There doesn't seem to be much to do in that one park so I'm assuming it should be fine... but you know what they say about assuming...

I believe that's the start of the Mardi Gras festivities but I'm not sure. That's why the park closing hours would be pushed back to 8PM.

As to whether you'd have time to do everything, it really depends on the crowds. I'm assuming you're only wanting to do the studios park and not IOA as well. I'd say just judge the crowds when you get there. I've had times where I could have done both parks easily by 5 PM and other times when I've only made it through 4-5 attractions. If crowds are awful then you can get the express pass, but I don't think they should be that bad. If they're light I'd say you could finish most everything by 4:30 or so minus a few shows maybe if you got there at 9.

No, we won't be hitting IOA that day. Well I'm going to go ahead and make our Cirque reservations for that night since it's really the only night in our plans with enough room. If we don't see everything in USO... oh well, we'll just have to go back. :D

That is the first night of Mardi Gras probably going to be extremely crowded but not till later in the day, early on will still be much busier than normal.

Madi Gra does start the 3rd but it is only happening at USF not IOA. You could spend the money and get the express pass, the same thing like fastpass for Disney but you can use it over and over again at most or almost all of the attractions.

Not quite. The ones you purchase work more like the dream fastpass. You can only officially use it once per attraction. Now if you stay in a USO hotel you can use your room key to get front of the line access to all the rides that accept it over and over.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

correct, there are ways around the system, but officially it only works once a day. If you want to work around the system you can do so.

To answer your original question, I would'nt worry too much about doing everything at USO in 7 or 8 hours. That should be plenty of time, just hustle a bit at opening to get the big ticket attractions out of the way.

THE SWINES!:(

Excuse me? When you have a queue full with a wait of 60 min while running at full capacity, Port and Starboard, the last thing you want are people abusing the product. Coke bottles say no refills, the express passes say one ride per attraction.

Then again, if it's a day like today was, it won't really impact our wait that much (actually, it'll probably fill some empty seats)-- so we're more lenient.
