Help, I was wondering if anybody out there knows if its possible to use your computer on a HDTV.

Do I need a different video card?

Is it possible? Any info or websites would be helpful.

Thanks!!!

I have an ATI Radeon 9600 XT which can be hooked up to an HDTV.

Never actually done it, so can't help on the efficacy of doing so, but it is doable...

depends on the connection fella - my samsung panel has only got a hdmi connection - but you can easily get a dvi to hdmi converter for x amount on ebay of all places!

basically you will either or both - if you have either there is a simple way round the dilema with a converter.

Your graphics card must have dvi out in order to support hi definition bit - and if you wish to run a designated os like windows media centre you need to have a graphics card compatible with windows media centre.

My computer is connected via svga as i only use the machine to watch this weeks lost!

My setup is as follows:

TV:
Samsung 32" hi-def lcd panel

PC:
1 x silent psu (power supply unit)
3 gig pentium 4 + 1 gig of paired corsair ram
300 gig sata drive
Samsung DVD drive (black)
Samsung DVD Writer (black)
nvidia 6200 (i dont play games on the machine anyway)
creative audiogy 2 with spDIF out (co ax)
All in a silverstone BLACK media centre case. For the finishing touches i 'aquired' an official 2005 remote and keyboard (wireless)

Hooked it up to my surround sound and its working a charm!

(home cinema is ANOTHER post for another day!)
