Using Disney Vacation Club Point Rental Brokers

Hi, My wife and I are looking into booking another Disney World vacation and I've heard a lot of money can be saved if booking through a Vacation Club point rental site such as Davids Vacation Rentals. I know if I use one of those sites that it only covers my resort accommodations. My question is how do I go about purchasing park tickets and the Disney Dining Plan? Is there a way to link all those things with the MyDisneyExperience app even though the resort reservations will be booked through a 3rd party? Also, can I link my Magicband with my resort reservations? Thanks for any insight that you can provide in this matter

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Dining plan can be added by the member you rent points from and it is due in full at time of booking usually. Also you will get a free magic band that you can customize just like booking directly through Disney. All resort guests whether staying on points or paying cash get them every stay. And yes all the magic bands in your MDE account will work with the new reservation as well. Tickets you can just buy seperately directly from Disney online or an authorized reseller like Undercover Tourist and can be linked to your MDE account. You can still book FP's 60 days out if you have valid tickets in your account and resort reservation in your account at that time etc. Pretty much all works the same as if you didn't rent points and booked direct. Also you will only get mousekeeping every 4th day and not daily like a regular booking when renting points. :)

Renting through a site like David's will cost you a huge premium, but still less than Disney directly. Find a private owner through other sites and you should be able to get in around $12/point. David's is $15+ per point. eBay is a great place to look as well.

Isn't one of the benefits of a brokers such as Dave's is to take on no risk - at least that's what the sell as an advantage. Going directly to an owner has risks where as they could take your money and run, or back out late (and refund). What are your thoughts?

Having done both, renting through a broker and an individual, there's always risk. There's the "what-if's" that come up, such as... What if the owner gets their timeshare foreclosed on?

Broker sites have set prices, that adjust with each year. They pay their clients for their points, but have to charge a little more to you to make something for themselves. Going through an individual can be risky (most have references and such), but in the end, they're looking to put the points to use that they aren't using so it helps to pay for their investment (so most are going to help and stand by it) so you may wind up paying less than what a broker site would do. Just think of the broker site as a 3rd party to you dealing directly with a DVC member (cause that's what it is), they put your request out to their clients and if someone has the points to fill it, they enter your info in and get your reservation.

Also keep in mind that all the broker sites have different amounts of clients. David's may only have 100 people that sell points to him, whereas another broker may have 200. So each site is its own monster in what they have to work with to help set you up with a unit.

In 2014, we were able to plan a month out from our trip and one place we looked had nothing available, but we went to another broker and were able to get Saratoga Springs and AKL Kidani Savanna View for the time we were going. So keep that in mind as well.

As far as park tickets and such, the reason they take down all your info when booking is for the Disney reservation. It will come up in MDE under you. You'll get your magic bands and you can buy your tickets online at the Disney site and it'll all be linked right there in your MDE.

Just remember, nothing is ever guaranteed. As I said earlier, there's a ton of "what if's" out there, but talk with those who are renting the points and ask questions. It's few and far between (I believe) that DVC reservations through brokers or individuals fall through, but it can happen. Foreclosures would be the biggest one. As for someone saying about looking for rentals on EBay, I'd probably not go that route. There are a ton of options and avenues for booking DVC that are more reliable.

Thanks to all for the info.you've shared. I more than likely will try a reputable place like davids or another popular site rather than try to save a few dollars and going through an individual just for the lower risk or getting burned.
