I have an $80 credit on Air Tran. I would like to use it to pay for our checked bags. Is there a way to do that on-line or do I have to call or do I have to do it a the airport? Never had a credit before! It is a good problem to have!

Using an Air Tran credit

I have an $80 credit on Air Tran. I would like to use it to pay for our checked bags. Is there a way to do that on-line or do I have to call or do I have to do it a the airport? Never had a credit before! It is a good problem to have!
I know this response comes two weeks after your post, so I hope I'm not too late to give you some options.
1. Wait until you get to the airport. You will need your reservation #, because it acts as your airline credit.
2. Use your credit to upgrade to Business class at check-in time, and then your bags will be included with the upgrade
3. I believe you can use the credit online when you check in, after you've selected how many bags you'll be checking. [If you're not already signed up to become an A+ Rapid Rewards member (it's free and you start earning a point for every one-way you take...a total of 2 points for round trip). Then, your credit will also be attached to your membership]. The site will prompt you for a form of payment; and I believe that there is an option for airline credit.
4. Call AT directly to confirm the info I just gave you. Their reps are typically nice and easy to deal with. If you happen to stumble across a rep who is hard to understand, simply excuse yourself and then call back in a couple of minutes.
