USA Today Article on DCA

A typical USA Today article; mostly right, overly broad and simplified, with a few glaring errors that should have been caught by a junior editor's first pass. It reminds me why I no longer pay for newspapers, and take most stuff that the mainstream media says with a big chunk of salt.

At least they went to one knowledgeable source and got some quotes from Al Lutz of Miceage in there. :D

Thank you very much for the link!

Yeah, I don't consider USAToday a SME on Disney Theme Parks either . . . what were the glaring errors though? I thought the description of the Orange Stinger was a bit off, but nothing else particularly stuck out as a glaring error IMO . . .

The few glaring errors that jumped out at me;

The repeated claims that Buena Vista Street, Carthay Circle, and Cars Land all opens in "early 2012", six months from now.

"And in the final phase of the remake, expected in early 2012, a 90-foot replica of Carthay Circle Theatre..." "Construction of a new 12-acre section of California Adventure called Cars Land is expected to open in early 2012."

Disney has repeatedly said through a number of official forums that Cars Land and the entry area open in "Summer, 2012"

The USA Today reporter also got the head Imagineers name wrong.

"People will be pretty amazed at how different it is," says Kathy Magnum, a vice president with Disney's Imagineering unit who is in charge of many aspects of the park's upgrades.

It's Kathy Mangum, not Magnum. An unusual spelling of the name, to be sure, but it's not like it's spelled in Farsi or Icelandic or something. And her title is an Executive Vice President, not just a Vice President. :rolleyes:

Again, a perfect reason why I don't pay for mainstream media news any longer, and take anything they say with a big chunk o' salt. The only time I read USA Today anymore is when it's shoved under my hotel room door for free, and then it's only worth a chuckle or two. :lol:
