Upgrading to a Moderate Resort

So after some thought....we decided we are going to go ahead and shell out the extra money and check out some of the Moderate Resorts for our trip in May! Now...Decisions. We normally rely on the Bus system so we really want a resort that has decent bus service. I do not mind walking but I have heard complaints about CS being laid out very far from everything so what do you guys think?

P.S. Where should I view the Electrical Float Pageant? :)

POFQ tends to have the best bus service if, and only if they do not combine routes in with PORS. Otherwise the other three are about equal. Some days will be better than others and vice versa.

The only moderate I would really avoid is Caribbean Beach and that is simply because they are the only one that does not have queen beds.

Coronado is a large resort, but I have found the problems with getting around the resort to be largely overblown. On one trip I deliberately got a building as far away from the lobby as possible. My walking time from my door to the lobby was right around 7 minutes. Granted I am a fast walker, but even little old ladies with walkers could make the trip in less than 15 minutes.

The Beach at the Poly, Ft Wilderness and Wilderness lodge are my favorite places to watch the boat parade. However, with all of the construction going on at the Poly, I would probably nix that one from my list. Dinner at either Whispering Canyon Cafe or Trails End followed by the parade would be my plan.

I have had the best luck with POR and FC. CS being the worst. Buses tend to back up because of how Disney built the bus stops so only one park bus can load at a time which bunches up the buses. Both FC and POR can load multiple buses for various parks at the same time at each stop.

Another vote for POFQ! When the buses do share with Riverside, POFQ was picked up and dropped off first. POFQ is great since it is so small in size, it just has this charm that the others don't . I have stayed at all of the moderates and Riverside and French Quarter are my favorite by far.

I have stayed at Coronado, Caribbean, and POR. In my experience the bus service was the worst at POR and best at Coronado. I really like the Coronado, the cabanas section is close to the pool and main buildng.

The Electric Water Pageant doesn't swing by moderates. I wouldn't bother going to see it. It's great, if you happen to be staying where it does stop! But going through a bunch of trouble for it? I wouldn't.

If you really want to, though, check the schedule and go to whichever place fits your plans. It is the same thing, no matter where you're standing when you see it. :) Check it against the Wishes schedule, too! You don't want to go through all that trouble and then miss out because of Wishes. :)

POFQ for the win. Ask for the building to the left of the lobby. I think its building 4. It is the closest to the bus stops. Also both FQ and RS have a boat launch to DTD. Its a fun trip down the river.

The electrial pagent is nice if you catch it, the poly beach is a good spot. Eat at Ohana, and then head to the beach for the water parade & wishes.
