Upgrading tickets to AP's on package deal

This is actually in reference to a package deal we have for Disneyland, but I would assume the rules are the same as they are for WDW. We purchased a package that includes 6 day park hoppers. Can we take those tickets and apply them to AP's at Disneyland even though we're getting them as part of a package?

Once you're there and have used the tickets once, you can upgrade them without affecting your package. The "used once" is only to lock in the value of the ticket, whatever price you paid.... If prices went up since you booked, you'll get credit for the current cost, not the pre-increase cost if you've used at least on admission.

That assumes the rules are the same there as at WDW...

So for example if you have a 7 day hopper.
One you use the first day, you can upgrade to the AP at any point and you will just have to pay the difference from what you paid for the 7 day hopper?

Does the AP then start from the date fo the First Day used on the 7 day hopper?
