Upgrading ticket to an AP?

We have a Universal package for next month which includes 3 day park hoppers. Will Universal allow me to take my ticket and upgrade to an AP for the difference in price, like Disney does?

I just bought an AP from Universal last month, and from what I remember, there were signs everywhere (including signs throughout the parks) saying "Upgrade your ticket to an AP today!", so I believe it is possible.

I know Universal is just 2 parks, but the AP is less than half the price of a Disney AP. Well worth it, especially considering the resort discounts. I'm definitely gonna do it. Disney isn't worth a weekend trip for me. Universal is.

Yes, you can upgrade but as with anything, there's a timetable to do so. As CaptainKidd said, the benefits are great, I have the Premiere pass that gets me free Valet parking and express pass privileges after 4pm, that's worth it right there!

What do you mean by timetable

We purchased our package in May. Will be using the ticket for the first time on September 3, which is the same day I planned on upgrading. Will that be an issue?

I've found the discounts to be very nice...you get a discount on most everything in the parks, except for alcohol and merch carts. Plus, you get free parking. Definitely worth it!

I would call the resort and just ask them honestly if you are still not sure. I want to say the way it almost always is if you upgrade at guest services before leaving you can do so. I can't imagine they would not let you to do so as soon as you get there and you might as well as it will give you discounts for your current stay. I would go straight to guest services when I get there to cover all bases.
