s25843,
I'm with you on the aiport thing. It seems like so many people EXPECT something for nothing these days. My point, however, was that I see no reason why I shouldn't ask for a room upgrade. If it's available, why not take advantage of it? I get a nicer room, which makes me happy, and WDW gets a happy guest, which makes them happy. I am by no means advocating that someone is ENTITLED to an upgrade, just that it never hurts to ask for one.
The thing that I find bothersome about this whole thread is this undercurrent of "classes." 2much2do blew a gasket about this topic, and you're talking about how you want to stay on a floor where you won't be bothered by those pesky lower "social classes." Don't worry, we'll be over at the All Stars, so we'll be out of your way. Just like you I PAY my way to WDW, I just can't afford to stay at the delux resorts yet. But don't worry, I still aspire to be an elitest snob someday, so maybe I'll get there yet! We can get rooms on the same floor and make sure none of those little kids eat up our free snacks that we PAY to get! We'll call security and have them downgraded to a regular room with a bad view, just like they deserve!
It really saddens me a little to see this kind of tone on the boards (including mine), but I've just had enough of this crap. I thought we all came to this website to talk about something we all hold dear to us, Walt Disney World. I really don't post a lot; I mostly just read, but I just can't sit hear and watch a member get insulted and leave just for asking a question! If you don't like what someone says, please feel free to disagree! I just don't see why there's any need to be rude about it. And I REALLY hate this whole "social class" thing. It just smacks of arrogance. If you're rich, great; but please don't put down those of us that aren't.
