Updating tickets

We leave for Disney on Thursday. We already have tickets that my parents gave us that we used years ago that still have days on them. My parents purchased them from someone who only used 2 of the 7 days in 2003. We used 3 of the days in 2007. The tickets all have our finger scan on them. Will we have a problem switching the tickets over since we were not the original buyers? My sister has sent the tickets to Disney to check the days remaining and they never said anything about her not being the original buyer. Has anyone ever switched old tickets to the new system when you weren't the original buyers?

As you've already used some of the days on them (four years after buying them from the original purchaser) there shouldn't be any issues switching them this time

Disney wasn't asked to comment on that when the tickets were sent off to them, you just asked them to check on the remaining days.

You won't have a problem. You'll just have to stop at a Guest Relations window to have them re-issued on an RFID card to use with all the new touch-points at the park entrance and FP+. Until then you should still be able to link the tickets to MDE using the serial numbers on them. And if you're staying on-site, once your reservation and the tickets are linked to your MDE profile, your Magic Bands will be able to access them.

Just be aware that you will not be able to *upgrade* those tickets in any way. The number of days and options are locked to what they are now.

If the tickets have names printed them on them that are not your names, you may not be able to use them, as they are non-transferrable. But if you have used them before and have finger scans, it shouldn't be an issue. :)

Thanks y'all! They don't have names on them so that won't be an issue. I tried before to link them to my account (they are hard plastic) and it wouldn't let me. The cast-member I talked with said as soon as I exchange them I can go online and get my fastpasses.
