I have here a repost of the night parade for my Magic Kingdom park, which is an updated version of Main Street Electrical Parade. Basically, this is the same parade which previously ran at Disneyland, WDW's Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and currently runs in a modified version at California Adventure. (Hong Kong will get MSEP when it opens, in fact, WDW's old unit!) However, the parade floats will have better, more up-to-date floats fiberoptic lights, very much like the DreamLights! floats used at Tokyo Disneyland (but smaller, closer in size to the original MSEP floats). In case anyone's not familiar with DreamLights!, its a 21st century spin-off of MSEP currently running at Tokyo Disneyland . More information, along with parade videos, can be found at the following URL:
http://www.barrybedford.com
Tokyo Disneyland also has more about DreamLights! on their website, which tells about each float, one at a time:
http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/tdl/english/dreamlights/dre_floath1.html
http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/tdl/english/dreamlights/dre_floath2.html
http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/tdl/english/dreamlights/dre_floath3.html
My updated MSEP will also use the original Baroque Hoedown theme song used in MSEP and Disney's Electrical Parade at California Adventure (DreamLights! uses an orchestrated version of Baroque Hoedown instead of the original version), which will be interspersed at various times with songs from the respective Disney films represented. Here is a sound file of this tune:
http://www.disneynut.com/wdw/music/msep288.ram
The parade will run approximately the same length as the original MSEP (approx. 23 minutes) Oddly enough, Dreamlights! runs in the same time span, more or less, but with nearly twice as many floats! I'm not sure how they do this, possibly with shorter gaps between parade float units. I asked this question on the Tokyo/Hong Kong forum, but to no avail. I will also add a few additional float units to the parade's original lienup, but less than DreamLights! added to theirs.
Now, onto my parade:
OPENING AND ANNOUNCEMENT
(Lights dim around around parade route just before start)
[Soundtrack: "Electric Fanfare" by Don Dorsey]
Synthesized-like voice says, "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Disneyland (name of park's location)'s Magic Kingdom proudly presents our spectacular pagaent of nighttime magic and imagination in thousands of sparking lights and electrosynthomagnetic musical sounds, The Main Street Electrical Parade!".
[Fanfare of Lights by Don Dorsey]
[Main Street Electrical Parade soundtrack begins, with Baroque Hoedown by Jean-Jacques Perry and Gershon Kingsley]
1.) BLUE FAIRY
For this and all existing parade units within the Main Street Electrical Parade, see the MSEP script at http://www.disneylandian.com/faqs/msep.html
since these parade units will be exactly the same, scriptwise, as the original parade. The new units will be described when I get to them.
2.) CASEY JR. TRAIN, with Goofy in the engine cab, pulling a big drum that alternates between saying "Disneyland (name or park's location)'s Magic Kingdom presents" and "Main Street Electrical Parade". With the improved, fibreoptic lighting, the drum sign will be composed of numerous bulbs as opposed to the flashing neon sign of the original-- much like the DreamLights! drum float sign, in a Las Vegas-like manner. Also, the "Presents" sign will use the theme park resort's actual logo (much like the blue script-like lettering of Disneyland's logo, and the red Walt Disney World logo with the "mouse ears" globe) due to the improved lighting. Mickey and Minnie ride the drum float, as usual.
3.) ALICE IN WONDERLAND: ["Alice in Wonderland", Sammy Fain/ASCAP and Bob Hilliard/ASCAP;
"All In The Golden Afternoon", Sammy Fain/ASCAP and Bob Hilliard/ASCAP; "The Unbirthday Song", Mack David/ASCAP, Jerry Livingston/ASCAP, and Al Hoffman/ASCAP]
This unit will be a bit different from the original MSEP. To make room for the new floats I plan to add, I cut back on this segment a bit and format it more like DreamLights' Alice in Wonderland segment; since MSEP's Alice in Wonderland segment is VERY long. Like the original MSEP, the Alice unit opens with a spinning bee with flashing stinger and a spinning spectacled turtle, that crazily move about and purposely getting very to close to guests Since I cut back on this unit, I decided to do away with more than one of the same animals (MSEP has 2 turtles, 2 bees, and 2 snails). Also, these floats will look much like the DreamLights! floats (more colorful with fiberoptic lights), but smaller and closer in size to the original MSEP floats. For the turtle, I'll combine features of the 2, and have this turtle wear at hat (like the one of the end) as well as glasses!
Next is a group of dancers in lighted butterfly outfits. The original MSEP had 2 sets of butterfly dancers, and DreamLights! has one set of butterfly dancers and another dressed like flowers; not to mention a group of majorette-looking dancers before the Alice unit (probably not part of the same unit!). I'll have just this one set of dancers in mine, to keep this parade from not running too long, while I make way for new parade float units! :animwink:
Following these dancers is a red lighted Cheshire Cat float, which will be very similar to the DreamLights! float. On top is Alice in a blue dress on top waving, while the Chesire Cat periodically blinks on and off leaving only a smile. Alice is saying to the parade crowd, "Why, hello everybody. What? How did I get so small and sitting upon The Cheshire Cat? Well, that's an interesting story. I was sitting on this river bank with my cat, Deena (sp?) listening to my sister, who..." The White Rabbit with a red blinking heart and a lit cookie prances around the Cheshire Cat float.
Following Alice and The Cheshire Cat is a Lady Bug, basically the same as the DreamLights! Lady Bug float. Next is a red mushroom with a waterpipe smoking caterpillar atop with a green bug at the rear base. (The Caterpillar is saying something all the while) Following this is a spinning, head-nodding snail. Taking up the rear is a long green millipede.
4.) WINNIE THE POOH: This is similar to the DreamLights! float, with Winnie the Pooh & friends on a small float around the famous Honey Tree. This float is followed by dancers in bee costumes, dancing to the song "Winnie the Pooh", which plays as the dancers pass by. Here is a midi file:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/9711/winniepoo.mid
5.) CINDERELLA: same as original MSEP unit
6.) PETER PAN: same as original, with Hook's pirate ship, The Jolly Roger, and Smee's rowboat following behind.
7.) ALADDIN: This is basically a small float designed like a magic carpet in the front and middle sections. Aladdin and Jasmine ride on the magic carpet. A giant blue lighted Genie appears in the back. With this float, the music shifts from Baroque Hoedown to "A Whole New World", and back to Baroque Hoedown after the float passes. Here is a midi file of "A Whole New World": http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/9711/newworld.mid
The Aladdin unit was entirely my own creation, and has never appeared in MSEP, Spectromagic, DreamLights!, or anywhere for that matter!
:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :animwink:
8.) DUMBO: basically the same as original MSEP, though I may cut back on this a bit due to its length.
9.) SNOW WHITE: same as original MSEP unit
10.) PINOCCHIO: ditto, though may be cut back in length slightly as well. Also, I'll try to have Geppetto and Jiminy Cricket here as well!
11.) BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: This unit is similar to Dreamlights's unit, broken into two small floats. First we have a "desert cart" float with Lumière, accompanied by dancers dressed as waiters and waitresses to the song "Be Our Guest". Here is a midi file:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/9711/berguest.mid
The second float replicates the castle's ballroom, with Belle and Vincent (Vincent appears in the Magic Kingdom, whereas the Beast appears at Disney Studios only, due to the presense of the post-transformation castle in The Magic Kingdom) dancing to the song "Beauty and the Beast". Here is a midi file: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/9711/beauty2.mid
12.) PETE'S DRAGON: same as original MSEP
13.) IT'S A SMALL WORLD: This is basically the same as the DreamLights! IASW unit, broken up into four floats. It's a Small World opens with live singers/dancers Members dressed at the IASW dolls (face characters) in lighted costumes, singing (possibly lip-synching) and dancing to the song "it's a small world". The music shifts from Baroque Hoedown to it's a small world, reverting back to Baroque Hoedown around the beginning of the third float. Here is a midi file:
http://www.pacificsites.com/~drhoades/sounds/small_world.mid
The first float will be a showboat. On the boat will be Donald, Daisy, and Scrooge McDuck in the front; with the Three Little Pigs in the back of the boat.
The second float will be an airship. Since I will still have Chip and Dale headlining "To Honor America" (the grand finale), I replaced them with Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Jessie (from Toy Story), who ride in the airship.
The third and fourth floats will be the Sun and Moon floats from DreamLights!, respectively! Since Pinocchio will have his own float unit, Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip will take their place in the back, while Mary Poppins and Bert ride the boat on the front of the Moon float. The Sun float will have the same characters as its DreamLights! counterpart; with Panchito and Jose Carioca (from The Three Caballeros) in the front, and with Pluto and Roger Rabbit in the back!
14.) TO HONOR AMERICA: similar to the original MSEP unit, but very likely will be a somewhat shorter in length than the original (which is/was almost 100 feet long). Chip & Dale appear in front to this float, along with All-American Girls in red, white, and blue outfits; who hold a rope while others start removing the crowd-restaining ropes.
