Hey, everyone.

"El Rio Del Tiempo" (the boat ride at Epcot's Mexico pavilion) recently recieved an updated load spiel (the spiel heard at the start of the ride). The English is done by a male Mexican, the Spanish by a woman. Here's how it goes:

"Beinvenidos. For your safety, remain seated, keeping your hands, arms, feet and legs inside the boat and if you have children with you, please watch them." (Spanish safety spiel immediately follows)

The original spiel went:

"Please keep your hands and arms inside your boat and remain seated throughout your voyage and no smoking or flash pictures, please. Gracias."

The end spiels have not been changed. If/when they do, I'll let you all know.

Does it mention anything about the attraction being very outdated and in serious need of an upgrade?

It´s spelled "Bienvenidos". :animwink:

Thanks for the info! I do hope they change the audio at the beginning of the ride though... or in the whole ride!
I could never figure out what it was said because it was too old and too low.... and I had to ride it every day for three months!

I do consider myself lucky! Lucky that my program only had me there for three months! It certainly could have been worse! :animwink:

Screamscape says that one of the plans for Project Gemini is to turn this horrible, boring ride into a Three Caballeros themed ride. That'd be a nice upgrade.

Ommigosh...I cant believe you just said that. El Rio is Disney at its finest. I like to think of it, as (torture) a lovely boat ride. Each trip, offers an escape (from the heat)...  ...I actually do this ride frequently, I get in the boat, Lay down as far as i can, and kick off my shoes...And let the tune carry me away:lol:

OH MY GOD!?!

I CANT BELIEVE MY EYES!
Horrible, Boring Ride?

This ride is beautiful. Tell me that at the beginning of the ride when you see the volcano in the distance, and the people eating at the restaurant is not an awesome view!

Yeah, some aspects, like the video of the person jumping from the waterfall, and the dude trying to sell you stuff is OLD!

Maybe change that, but Oh my god., this is not HORRIBLE!

Its a ride into Mexico!

As much as I love classic rides, Id agree with you more if you said Its a small world is horrible!

I love the ride the way it is-true, it is extremely outdated, but that's really just part of it's charm. I never miss it on a trip.Although I must admit my family thinks it's pretty lame:lookaroun

This ride did have a nice charm to it the first few times i rode it, but that died out soon. It reminds me too much of the hellish ride aka torture chamber known as IASW.

Aww..come on now. This has got to be one of the best rides in Epcot. We actually figured out the secret...
Drink around the world and THEN ride it

Speak of "rio del tiempo"
What are the words to the song ?
i have the song track, and always sing to it. but i make up hte words LOL.

But besides that the ride does need a upgrade, Im not sure if adding the 3 caballeros wouldn't be a good idea being that the movie shows a very '40s Mexico.

So the speil doesn't say no pictures now? Does that mean I can take pictures now? Oh wait.. I already did. Shame on me for not following directions. ;)

I love El Rio Del Tiempo. It's relaxing and I love the song and it has such nice theming.

To the person above, I'll bet Maria knows all the words, and in Spanish too! (I just about failed high school Spanish) I know some of the words, but definately not the Spanish part. Maria, care to enlighten us? :)

oh Jesus...! I will have to dig that out! I remember they gave us the lyrics during training, but believe me, the audio is so bad, that none of us could have figured the lyrics out without having them print!

It was something like "Welcome mis amigos to friendly Mexico, to the land of fiestas" ....and I can´t remember more! :o

Alright, let me have a go at this. I can remember random parts of it.

Welcome mis amigos to friendly Mexico, to the land of fiestas, they're everywhere you go. (something goes here) Playing Latin rythym and serenading you. Come join the fun, it's here for everyone. (something, something, something) In Mexico, when people smile at you, there's just one thing to do, you join the fiesta too!

Okay, that's all I've got. Some of it is probably wrong. I've been listening to the ride audio a lot lately, so I really *should* know all the words. But alas, I don't.

Same here. I actually enjoy the calm and relaxation it brings and is nice to get out of the heat for a min. First time on it I thought I was being put back in It's A Small World.
