A picture of the floor in that area might help to answer that.Interesting they didn't replace the tank. Wonder if there is another issue in that area that caused the crack and the no-return of a tank to that area.
I will try and go back over there to get that pic for you.A picture of the floor in that area might help to answer that.
Look for an obvious crack in that location.I will try and go back over there to get that pic for you.

You Can say there's something "Fishy" About it...This is some CSI Miami type of stuff !!! Pictures of the floor area looking for cracks looking for a clue.
It is possible, but I do not think it is all that probable. Most foundation cracks are due to settling.Fun question here....
Do you think that any of the construction in the surrounding areas helped develop that crack?
It is possible, but I do not think it is all that probable. Most foundation cracks are due to settling.
There are a whole bunch of "what ifs" and unknowns that would make concluding that there is a structural problem nearly impossible from my keyboard.
Not necessarily, but it is something that would need to be looked at before you did it.True. So if there are foundation cracks, its in their best interest not to replace the tank?
No cracks or anything like that. I could not take a picture as every table was occupied but foundation wise it looks good. I think it was just a faulty seal in the tank and rather than replace and take a chance of it happening again they said screw it and let's place more seating .Look for an obvious crack in that location.
Sounds logical. No cracks or anything like that. I could not take a picture as every table was occupied but foundation wise it looks good. I think it was just a faulty seal in the tank and rather than replace and take a chance of it happening again they said screw it and let's place more seating .
The first picture with the 2 little dinosaurs is now a rock garden and I assure you tibia where the original aquarium was that ruptured as I was here as it ruptured. I am not sure about how many aquariums were originally inside of TRex but now there is only the one at the bar area. This does not look like it is the same position as the old aquarium. From past experience there are multiple aquariums in TRex. based on this, I don't think that they would not replace the aquarium with a new one or fix it if possible. The costs are not so expensive as compared to sourcing a new feature, like the Jelly in the picture above. Just the aquarium by itself would be a few thousand dollars, if they could reuse the internal false coral decorations, etc. Most likely the seam could have just been re-welded in the original aquarium and problem solved. By the way, I thought I heard that it was fixed the next day back in March. Maybe I'm wrong. Also, remember this restaurant along with Rainforest are not managed by Disney. There is a separate company that runs them, so they are not as likely to cheap out and not just replace it.
Also, in order for it to be a foundation type issue it would have been much worse than a simple seam failure on the side. These acrylic aquariums generally have a stand that supports the entire underside of the aquarium so floor imperfections generally do not affect the aquarium itself. The stand itself would have to have been structurally compromised. The leak in the aquarium was likely due to a defective weld in the side seam where the single sheet of acrylic is welded back to itself after it is bent into a circle.
