From that it looks like when this photo was taken (01-02-02) River Country's main lake is empty. Maybe there working on it?

River Country is seperated from Bay Lake by a inflatable wall system... This allows Disney to filter the water within the River Country complex without having to deal with the lake water...

Thanks for the pics DonicCO!

Sadly this is probably the end of the line for River Country. All of the signs around the property have been taken down. It is no longer listed on WDW's website either.

I wonder what they plan to do with the area.

And to think that River Country was the first themed water park in the world.

It is a shame it's gone... I really liked that wicked body slide they had that went into the lagoon. The park was a bit outdated, but still plenty of fun.

I still see a number of signs around WDW that have river country listed on them.

Confirm

Yes RC has been drained, if you are on the launch from WL to FW you can see that they run a sump pump that is continuously pumping water that accumulates in the lagoon into Bay Lake. We will all have memories of sliding down the zip lines and landing in the water at our dear departed stomping grounds..............

Ahh man even though River Country was not as good at Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, it was still a pretty good water park.

Waah! I was wanting to go there this summer. I had not been since the 80s and looked forward to a laid back, not-so-crowded splashing place. Bummer. BB and TL are almost as bad a Wild Waters- yuck.
