An EPCOT style park where you have fantasy worlds in a mostly lush environment could be cool.If Moana is going anywhere there are strong signs for Paris & Magic Kingdom. As for the Disneyland Resort, I would love for them to use it in a 3rd gate or an Adventure themed collection of mini-lands like Fantasy Springs.
For example, Motunui from Moana, Kokaua Town, Kauai from Lilo and Stitch, Agrabbah from Aladdin, Arendelle from Frozen, Tortuga from Pirates of the Caribbean, Neverland from Peter Pan, Wonderland from Alice in Wonderland, Pride Lands from The Lion King, Halloweentown from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Wakanda from Black Panther, Pandora from Avatar. Wouldn’t use them all obviously but I really do think it would work. Even something like a Luca C-I let could work in a larger land.
You don’t have to use their specific settings, but just to give an idea.
And then the more World Showcase style side where you can have festivals and it feels more adult but you make it whimsical like Tokyo DisneySea in stead of just hyperealistic, maybe with more of a focus on ancient history like Ancient China (Mulan), Ancient Greece (Hercules), Ancient Rome (perhaps the big “original ride, park anchor”, Ancient Egypt (could do Aladdin even) if you don’t go full Agrabah.
We need an Arabian Coast style land at the very least with an Aladdin ride:
Then areas like Greece, Germany, China, Italy, UK, can have Hercules, Tangled, Pinocchio, Mulan, Mary Poppins rides, etc.
Once DCA gets all its currently announced projects and Disneyland redoes Tomorrowland with a new ride like Walle and toss in a Star Wars coaster or even Pandora in the space to the right of Galaxy’s and and left of Mickey’s Toontown (forming a loop), then frankly it is time to build a new park at Disneyland.
A 2040 opening isn’t even unreasonable honestly.
And some combination of a (much better executed) Fantasy Springs in place of Future World with an ancient civilization, festival, Disney whimsy twist on World Showcase, likely with crossover from Shanghai’s new park would be such a mega success with LA’s locals it’s not even funny. Epic has been insane, you drop a park like that, potentially even bigger budget and you’d print cash. Pair that with an indoor outdoor “forever Aulani” style place, and you have a resort. They’re doing a new shopping/food/entertainment district, so honestly this should be the big picture move.
Universal should reclaim land on the ocean and build a second park, frankly, and if Disney doesn’t have the space they’d want and imminent domain capabilities they should do the same.
