Unused Park Tickets?

I purchased a package including park tickets for the day we arrive, but it's quite possible we might not use those tickets. If we don't use them, when do they expire and what do I hang onto to hopefully use them in the future? I'm assuming there's no such thing as a refund (and the difference between 7 day tickets and 8 day tickets was minimal anyway). It's also possible our resort day might actually be a full resort day (I made FP+ reservations just in case :)), so we might have tickets for two days left unused. Also, we have park hopper for all days.

If you do not use the park tickets they will never expire. Unused days on a park ticket will expire 14 days after first use if you no not purchase the no expiration option.

If you think you are going to have park days left on a ticket, it would be best to alter your reservation and take them off. You can add them on at guest services for the same price if you need them.

You will loose those unused days after 14 days from the first time you use them. There is a non expiring ticket upgrade but those will cost you extra...

This makes sense for the "resort day," which is a few days into the trip - if we decide we want to go to one of the parks that day after all, we'll add a day to the ticket. But for the arrival day, can I wait and see if we go into a park that day, and if we don't, then remove that day from the ticket later that day or the following day?

Maybe the best thing is to remove one day from the ticket now? If I remove two days now and we want to to go to a park on arrival day, I'd have to make a stop at guest services, which I'd probably rather not do just then.

One thing - the trip is fully paid now, so would they even refund me if I remove two park days?

No. Once you buy a day it is yours.

Your tickets are active the second you check into the resort.

Yes. They would refund you the difference.
