Unofficial Guide DHS Touring Plan - error?

First of all, I love the Unofficial Guide!

But is this an error in the new 2014 edition? In the DHS one-day touring plan they have you get Fastpasses for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, then a couple of steps later they have you get Fastpasses to ToT, then they have you ride RnRC, eat dinner, then ride ToT. It's not possible to get Fastpasses for ToT until after you use your Fastpasses for RnRC, right? Or am I missing something?

Also (and I don't think this is an error, but a bit surprising), they don't have you get your first Fastpasses until AFTER eating lunch -the next step is to get Fastpasses for Star Tours. Why wouldn't they have you get Fastpasses early on for either TSM or RnRC? I guess it has to do with the return times - maybe you'd have to return when most people would want to eat lunch? I'm just surprised they don't have you get a Fastpass for one of the popular rides right away.

I know you can customize these, just trying to make sure I understand the logic.

I can only answer your fastpass timing question. You can obtain another fastpass two hours after the start time of your current fastpass. For example, if your current fastpass is for is 10 - 11 a.m., you can obtain another fastpass at 10 a.m even if you have not yet utilized the 10-11 a.m. one. However, you must use your first fastpass by the 11 a.m. end time or it is no longer valid.

Not having read the book is does seem like a mistake if the author suggests that people can grab a fast pass for RNRC and immediately grab a fp for TOT. Seems like a big mistake not to get fast passes earlier in the day too.

I think a lot less than two hours would have passed before picking up the first Fastpasses. But that's interesting, I thought the system knew if you'd used the first ones or not and wouldn't let you get more until the first were used.

The current fastpass system has no way of knowing whether or not you actually use the fastpass. You show your paper fastpass to the CM at the ride entrance, who tells you to hang on to it. Then a second CM at the "merge" point collects your fastpass, and promptly disposes of it in the trash.

The only thing the system "knows" is that you have a fastpass for a specific time frame; that is why, if you attempt to get another fastpass during that time, a "THIS IS NOT A VALID FASTPASS" ticket will dispense from the machine.

Printed at the bottom of each fastpass is "another fastpass will be available at (time)". It is never any longer than two hours after the first pass was obtained.

To clarify my earlier post, if you get a popular Toy Story fastpass at 10 in the morning that is not valid until 3 p.m., you will not have to wait until 3 p.m. to get another fastpass; you can obtain another fastpass at noon (two hours after getting the Toy Story pass.) Or if the park is not crowded, and at 10 a.m. your return time for Toy Story is 10:45 a.m., you can get another fastpass (say for TOT) at 10:45 a.m.
