Has anyone experienced the new Unlimited Fastpasses for all Resort Hotel guests (w/ a package)? Sounds like an amazing privilege--good reason for people to start staying at the Resort Hotels...I look forward to it in...33 days!

Well yes. Kinda-sorta...

My wife works for a celebrity with big connections to ML baseball who got us into the big Anaheim Angels World Series celebration back in late October. It coincided with the City of Anaheim victory celebration that was at Edison Field that had something like 300,000 fans packing Katella Avenue and Stadium Way. To make a long story short, my wife's boss had to be there, so her office was closed for the day and the boss went so far as to score free tix for all employees and their families.

We ended up at DL resort at about 6:00am, went in through the Grand Californian Resort (for some reason that was VIP check-in). And we were given a "Deluxe Package" which gave us priority seating for the two celebration parades w/ player and coaches, and also gave us the Unlimited Fastpasses.

My jaw dropped to the floor as the CM explained how these work--that basically you hang onto this Fast Pass ticket all day (good for both parks!) and you basically go to any Fast Pass que at any time you choose. Again a totally unexpected perk. We were so excited. But whatever you do, don't let a CM take it from you like they'd do for a normal Fast Pass or the perk will be done.

Only rub we had in all this is that despite hoardes of people, no one was going on rides (a lot of baseball related stuff/autograph sessions and such were going on at the same time). So we only used our Fast Passes twice because Stand-by waits for almost everything were 5 minutes or less.

But if what you're getting is the same kind of thing, then expect to be grinning ear-to-ear for as long as you have these wondrous items in your hands.

Hmmmmm.....

If everyone has unlimited Fast Passes for every ride, how long before the Fast Pass line is longer than the stand-by line????

I would think the lines would say about the same, but the time period to get your fastpass will greatly deminish. You would need to go get all your fastpasses first thing in the morning, before they are all gone.

No,no,no...

You don't understand. What we were given up front--as in before we even entered a park--were these Deluxe Fast Passes that I wrote about. They looked like a standard Fast Pass ticket but had obvious different coloring to make them stand out from the Fast Passes dispensed at the various machines inside the parks.

With these Deluxe Passes (unless they changed them) you don't have to go to any Fast Pass Machine/Dispenser. Instead you just go to any ride that has Fast Pass and go right on into the Fast Pass Return line whenever you feel like it. In other words, if you want to ride Space Mtn six times in a row, you can do it. Just flash your Deluxue Fast Pass to the CM at the Fast Pass Return entrance and you're zipping through the line. And you can do this as many times as you like. Pretty cool perk.

However, I also fear that this might become a standard perk for resort guests on both coasts. And if so, I can only imagine sheer mayhem during crowded days if it takes effect.

Dogs Rule! is what you're getting because you're staying at one of DL's Deluxe resort hotels?

They only have three official hotels at DL--although the three hotels can hold a lot of guests. Still, if this becomes a standard perk, as an L.A. local, I would loathe to be at the parks during peak crowds because Fast Pass just won't work--not with three hotels full of guests filling the Fast Pass lines at will. And if they added this perk to WDW Resort guests, I would imagine that it would make the whole point of Fast Pass moot (and ________ off a lot of locals and guests staying outside of WDW).

What you are talking about is something else. They way I understand the normal feature that all Resort Hotel guests get (I am staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel) is a special park ticket that allows you to get more than one Fastpass at a time--you still have to wait till your time comes around, but you can have more than one at a time, for different attractions--can't have two for the same attraction, but you could, if you wanted, sweep through say the west end of Disneyland, getting Fastpasses for Indy, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash, and Big Thunder, and then loop back through riding them one after another. If they just let hotel guests go on whenever they wanted, the lines would be attrocious...the privilege is the ability to hold multiple Fastpasses at once. You had a special promotional thing...much like when you are on a ride and it breaks down and they give you a Fastpass good to ride any time you want (only yours, of course, was good for all Fastpass attractions).
