Universal vs WDW Biometric Readers

So, I had a less than awesome experience with waiting forever in the early afternoon to get into USO on Saturday, the backup seemed to be caused by the flaky biometric readers Universal is using, pretty much every other guest had to keep retrying or didn't understand how to use them ( that one is not really Universal's fault). But, I definitely see a better success rate at WDW, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I talked to a GR rep this morning and she gave me a bunch of excuses but said she'd pass my complaint along. The line with 6 turnstiles open stretched all the way to the arch, and took 30 minutes to get into the gates until they finally opened the other side. Other than this, had a great time at UOR and my premier pass.

That's interesting, as I've only had one or two issues over three years with the Universal biometrics scanners, and one of them was me forgetting if I used my thumb or finger my second visit. I do see other people having issues, but its hard to tell if its a hardware/software issue, or user error issue.

Universal's and Seaworld's biometric scanners are always having issues and are extremely slow. I have no clue why they haven't upgraded them. Disney's (especially the new next-gen ones) are much more pleasant to use.

I've had trouble with those things in all the parks. I have not - knock on wood - had a problem with my Uni AP just not working for no good reason.

I haven't been to UOR since 2011 when I had an AP for both UOR and WDW I also noticed those can take forever at UOR in comparison to WDW. I can't really speak for how it is now though.

My families works on the first try every single time (and they are a mess from getting wet all of the time!)

Totally agree. Last time I renewed, I got the 2 year annual pass to Sea World and Aquatica (a real big savings to do both for 2 years) and I haven't had a problem, even though I probably go to Aquatica about 8 times a year.

My only biometric issue that was not me using the wrong finger was for the lockers at FJ. I tried every finger and it wouldn't open. The Uni employee finally opened it after we tried all my toe prints too.

I never had an issue at Disney, it has worked the 1st time every time. Uni I used different fingers for the lockers just because its positioned differently than the entrance scanners. Next thing I know I park hop, use the wrong finger, and swear its the right one because I'm thinking of the finger I used for the lockers.

Yes! I had an issue with a locker not working once. Oy. What a pain.

I try to go hands-free as much as I can to avoid that. A -pack also works. You can take those on rides. :)
