Universal Studios Hollywood - Regular vs. Express Ticket

My daughter is turning 10 years old this August and our family of 5 is headed out to Santa Monica for the Beach but also check out Universal Studios Hollywood as she's a huge Harry Potter fan. I'm looking at single day tickets for Universal Studios Hollywood.
A single day pass is $680 for our family of 5. The express pass is $1455. Nearly $800 more expensive.

It looks like all the express pass does give you priority access to each ride once. And perhaps special seating for the shows?

Has anyone ever done this? Is there enough value to justify the price difference for the express pass? I don't mind paying the extra cost, but also want to make sure there's value in it as there doesn't appear to be that many attractions.
