Universal Studios and food allergies

How is Universal with food allergies? We've taken our children to WDW twice and this summer we're going back to WDW and Universal as well. This will be our first US trip with the kids so I was wondering if anyone has any info about dining there with allergies. Thanks!

they're pretty helpful. A security guard gave us a tip- ALL security guards carry epi pens (that way if needed, you won't have to use your own- since they're like $220!). We notify our server and 9/10 times the chef comes out to speak with us. They take it VERY seriously- as does Disney :)

My younger son is severely anaphylactic, airborne, and contact allergic to peanuts & tree nuts. My older son is allergic to dairy, eggs, tree nuts, beef, pineapple, kiwi, fish, lamb, pork, pumpkin, sesame, chickpea, buckwheat and I think that's it. Aren't you glad you asked?! Lol

Well, Disney is the safer bet. Universal is better in their resort hotels than their actual parks.

SJN1279 is very negative about anything Universal. To the point that he can't answer a simple question without a big batch of biased pontificating.

Just discuss your kids particular allergies with the TMs they are very accommodating.

Thank you. As long as we can get decent meals for our older son, we'll be happy. My youngest with just the nut allergies is easier to find food for.

First off I am sorry to hear about the childrens allergies, life is hard enough already for you and meals. You may also want to call ahead to WDW and Uni Resteraunts that you know you will be eating at. Both Parks do good handling allergies, but at least this way you have an idea what to expect and do prior to arriving for dinner. One plus to the up front is at least you will get a list of places that can accomondate food allergies and hopefully make life a little easier. I would highly reccomend that you do have your EPI pens on hand just as a precautionary measure. I always belive in better safe than sorry. Hope this helps a bit and you and your Family will love Universal and WDW. Have a great trip.

Thanks. Neither of them go anywhere without a full set of Auvi-q each and Benadryl (and inhaler for my older son). WDW is already set. I have the form from Special Diets to fill out & email back, and all our ADRs are set with the allergies noted. I didn't know if Universal has something similar.
