Universal Ride Reservation System

It occured to me today that while the board is centered around Disney giving the MM+ issues more of a highlight, we've never really discussed the (apparent) flop that was URRS.

The main HQ for redeeming the devices at IOA is gone, employees I've spoken with have said it is not surprising to sell less than five in a day and last time I was in a ticket queue I do not remember seeing any mention of it at all. I think it is safe to say that URRS is a flop and I'm not entirely sure why it was ever introduced.

Anyways, does anyone know if URRS is sticking around and if it is even making any sort of revenues for Universal whatsoever? I know the devices are furnished by LO-Q and I would not be surprised if this has been a costly venture for UO.

As far as I always understood it it was more of a long-term "test" that had no intent of overtaking the existing Express system in the near future. They never really advertised it, just made it available with minimal signage at the very front of the park close to the purchase location. I don't think this is the end of their more high tech reservation system, but it may be the end of it using a Lo-Q system. Remember, there are going to be a few thousand more guests potentially using Express in the coming years as they build more hotels, and Express works so well right now because the total number of people using the perk is relatively low. It will show up again in the future, more than likely.

Your last sentence threw me in a loop, is it no longer available in park?

I haven't paid any attention, but it sounds like from your post that it is gone in IOA already if the redemption center is closed. I'll have to ask around. I wouldn't be surprised if they stop selling it for a while. Remember the MM+-like tech patents we've seen from Universal lately?

The redemption area has been removed from IOA for a month or two now. As far as I know you can still buy a URRS, but you have to specifically ask for it.

I actually haven't read into any of the patents. I wouldn't be surprised if UO is attempting to replicate a MM+ entrance technology though. They've always TRIED to follow suit in tech advances.
