Universal Power Pass Blackout Dates

We are going back to Universal at the end of January 2015. This will be out third trip in the last 4 years and we always stay on site to get the free express pass. Until now we've always bought 3 or 4 day hopper tickets. I'm wondering whether a Power Pass (with the hotel discount) might make more sense. Also, we might go again the following year earlier in January to use the pass a second time, but it would be merely an added bonus. It might not happen.

So my question is when will we know the blackout dates for 2015? I called but they said they didn't know. Do people know when they come out historically? And does it make sense that the hotel discount will be enough more than the Stay more Save more discount to justify? I'm pretty sure the more expensive passes wounldn't be worth it since we don't park there and tend to get decent AAA discounts at restaurants already.

the end of January is not typically blacked out. I would just go with a preferred pass anyway (discounts on merch/food). Then there are no worries

Thanks. So the black out dates are available and I'm good. And the aph discount is pretty good too. I'm going to order power passes. But i need to have it in hand before I check in to get the discount--I think.

I got some weird info from the universal agent. They told me if I ordered them via mail. I would pay $15 to get a voucher but still have to exchange for the pass at the park gate. When I asked if I could use the will call kiosk at the hotel, they said no, I'd have to go to the park entrance and pick up my pass before checking in to my hotel.

This seems strange. Has anyone been able to order passes and get them either through the mail or at a will call kiosk at the hotel? Alternately will the hotel be ok with just a voucher when I check in? This seems way too complicated.

you have to go to the WILL CALL at the park entrance- it's weird and kind of a pain. Someone else said they recently added kiosks in the hotel lobbies for exchanging vouchers. The last time I was up was Aug, and we DID have to go to will call.

So I talked to the royal pacific hotel and they said I can do everything right there as far as getting my annual pass. Maybe this is the new thing you mentioned that was coming, but according to them it has arrived. Would also explain why the main universal number didn't know because it must be new.

I have that pass the end of January is fine the dates are 2nd week of June-aug first week week of thanksgiving Christmas New Years and I believe 1 week in April
