Universal is making Big Moves

I think that could bury them...fast...

First off..exess spending isnt good when you arent pulling in numbers...its a good way to go bankrupt...

Second, to open up attractions so close to each other is a bad strategy, you should space them out so that it appears that you are always expanding...and this way you dont out-hype the first attraction once the 2nd one opens...

I'm leaning toward it being a terrible move in terms of opening new rides at the same time.

It's cool that all workers have gotten their hours restored and are getting a raise. Seems kind of like a thank you for helping us out and going along with everything that's happened in the past year.

I think He's right!! If US/IOA are going to move up,NOW is the time to capture those attendance numbers. They have been 1st to make moves since 9/11.
They were the 1st to offer Discounts to 9/11 Firefighters and Cops.
They were the First to give Discounted tickets to the General Public.
Their new Hotels with Front of the Line Access are Drawing even die hard WDW fans.

New Rides is just what they need to Draw in even more Guests!!

Thats right. My first time to IOA in December and I am going back just 4 months later. They won me over.

One of the reasons Gault didnt say if it would replace any attractions or not is so he didnt get his @ss chewed out by the public .... Thats going to suck if they rerplace Kong or some other attracion...

All the moves they made tho didnt really help them. The parks are almost ALWAYS empty and US?IoA is almsot never the "preferred" visit when people go to orlandol....

Well, actually, I've noticed that the universal parks are almost NEVER empty anymore. I think mardi gras has something to do with it, but IoA always seems to be packed now too. Just as an example, last night I went to Universal, and at 8:00, which is when the rides close, Kong had a 35 minute wait, which was the longest I have EVER seen it since I've had my annual pass. From going to universal parks every weekend, it really seems like people are coming to the parks (i don't like it though...no more walk on every ride!!!). I think if they build some more rides, as long as they don't replace any, they would just get more people to come.:)

Im happy there doing something with the universal studio side that is very weak. The only reason it brings in attedence i think or saves itself is the Special night events. Marde Gras and Halloween Horror nights. IOA is awesome though and its very smart what he is doing

Not true. Busch Gardens/Sea World was the FIRST to offer discounts to Firefighter,Cops & Armed Forces (added after a month) after the events on 9/11.

Me too, since it's extra-money when buying the Park Hopper and it has to be worth it. I'm not complaining about it, but the more I get the more it'll be worth.

On a somewhat diferent note...

You guys been to MiB? Is it any good? I haven't been in it, and also Storm and Twister, and I've seen people divided by the last two...

MiB is great!!! It's like Buzz Lightyear at the Magic Kindom, only a lot better. On a one to ten scale I would have to give it a 9.5 where I would only give buzz a 2.

Storm is a teacups ride. Nothing special...If you've been on the teacups at magic kindom, think of that ride with added strobe lights, and some narration, and that's the ride.

Twister is a cool attraction, but it's nothing great. It's walk through, where they show you some movie clips about how they made twister, and then you go into a large room where you get rained on, high winds blown at you, etc. They also make a real "twister" in this ride which is cool, but I liked Ghostbusters a LOT better.

I've always found the Twister attraction to be a little lame. For one thing, the subtitle "Ride It Out" is quite misleading, as there is no "ride." You stand and experience a simulated storm.
While I enjoy the kind of hokey preshow where Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt wax philosophical about Twister the movie and how "real" it was, the attraction itself is really nothing special.
If Universal really wants to take out an attraction, I think Twister makes for a much better candidate than the rumored Kong removal. Kong is classic -- Twister is just a "now" movie, whose "now" time has been over for a while.

Alot of the effects don't work in twister anymore too. Remember when it first opened when you actually got wet from the rain and the floor would move the whole time...not just settle at the end?

Maybe they could replace twister with that Backdraft attraction that was rumored.

I think both the Backdraft and Waterworld ideas are bad. I mean, neither of these two movies were colossal hits and they are both older movies now. I also think a ride themed after the Mummy would make a lot more sense than one themed after the Scorpion King since the first two movies did so well and the Scorpion King is a spin-off of that series. Of course, that means using the nobody who played the Mummy instead of the Rock. Ok, now everybody: Can you smell what the Scorpion King is cooking? :hammer: ;)
