Fantastic...

I wondered if the backlot tour actually goes onto courthouse square at the moment?
It did when we went in 95, but didn't in 2008 or 2010.

I really want to get up close to where BTTF was filmed... will the normal tour do it?

Do you know if the VIP tour does or is any good also?

And finally, is Wisteria lane staying there as is despite Desperate housewives finishing?

Yes, the backlot tour goes onto the Courthouse Square. The driver drives by it very slowly so you can see, and sometimes they even stop the tram. The tram drives/stops across from the courthouse, not directly in front of it though. I know the VIP tour lets you walk on the lot and I wouldn't be surprised if they let you walk in Courthouse Square.:) Actually you can, I just looked it up so that's good news! It'd be way more awesome if they let you walk up and wonder around Bates Motel! I've heard really good reviews about the VIP tour and I plan on taking that tour myself. It's much more immersive.

I believe Wysteria Lane will still be there. I doubt they have plans on getting rid of it, since it's a very popular part of the tour. I haven't heard any news about them getting rid of it, so I'm sure all the homes will still be there when you visit! Let me know if you have more questions.:)

Yea I go to Universal Orlando all the time...wasn't sure if it was worth going to Universal Hollywood since most of it is similar

Oh no no no. Universal Studios Hollywood is the actual, one hundred year old movie studio. Universal Studios Orlando is a theme park with lots of rides based on movies. That's the biggest difference between the two parks.

USH just opened the amazing Transformers ride, which USO doesn't have. Besides Transformers, we have the Mummy, Jurrasic Park, and the Simpsons, along with some really great shows. As you can see, USH's main focus isn't the rides. There's a backlot tour, which is fantastic. It's a good 45-60 mins and you get to see a lot of cool things, my favorites being the Bates Motes from Hitchcock's Psycho, and Wisteria Lane from Desperate Housewives.

If you're solely into rides, then USH probably isn't for you. If you enjoy movies, film history and seeing how stuff works, then I would definitely check out USH.

15 years ago I would have said no, it's not.

It is now a really good park, the backlot tour is worth the admission fee alone.

Unlike Hollywood Studios, the Backlot Tour at USH is VERY real and VERY worth it. USH also has a very unique layout for a park being that it's built into a hillside so there is an upper and lower section to the park. Lots of escalators...
