This site doesn't have a Universal Studios Hollywood forum, unfortunately, so it's going here. Yesterday, NBC announced they have finally received the "ok" for what they call as their "Evolution Plan". The plan includes the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, new television facilities, new office space for the studios, a hotel, other new things for the park and new things for City Walk. The whole thing, for some reason, will take twenty-five years. Construction for Potter will finally begin this summer... Gibson, Water World, Shrek, Curious George and other attractions are slated to go bye-bye for the project.

It's about time. I can't wait for Despicable Me, Potter and the studio and City Walk upgrades. It will be VERY interesting to see what happens when these two, popular attractions open up. Disneyland's crowds will be the thing to observe.

Great to see there's going to be real movement on Potter this year. USH is going to have a good problem in that they're going to be overwhelmed and hit capacity constantly once WWOHP opens. Bye bye discounts!

Yes
I'm glad USH is getting an upgrade. We decided to skip USH on our trip next month because so much of it is similar to USO.

It's going to take 25 years because its essentially a 25 year plan. It's the sort of timeframe that cities and counties operate with in terms of urban planning.

It's different enough to fill a day.

Anarchy! lol...kidding

This 25 year (goodness that sounds like forever) plan very promising. I just hope the theme park and City Walk portions of this evolution are done much sooner than that. The studios and stuff expanding is cool but doesn't concern me as much. I really dig City Walk out in LA...maybe more than the park in it's current state o_O

I would have to definitely agree.

Don't say that!!! I hope at least some of the discounts will stay.

I'd be shocked if they did. WWOHP will be the biggest thing on the SoCal theme park scene since...I don't even know. Ask some people who work at UOR how life changed for them once WWOHP opened - it'll change USH for good. Imagine several thousand more people every day trying to get off the 101 and into Universal City. They'll have no need to discount and they will jack up prices considerably (on APs anyway), which they'll have to do in order not to drown in people.

All good problems to have. :)

I am NOT looking forward to those AP price increases. :/ I'm just glad they're not hundreds of dollars, like Disneyland's are.

Traffic.. Oh dear, traffic. I live ten to fifteen minutes way from USH and it took me almost an hour to get there the last time I went a few weeks ago. -__- Now it's only going to get worse. Thank God for the Metro Rail!

Biggest thing to happen to SoCal theme parks since DCA expansion maybe?

I am looking forward to this. 25 years is a long time! But that's 25 years to look forward to :) I wonder is the WWOHP will look different to USF at all, maybe include some phase 2 stuff?

Potter will, undoubtedly, be bigger than DCA 2.0.

It won't be exactly the same as Florida's.

Unless the thing they are doing is Avatarland, then Disney won't release so much as a sketch drawn on a cocktail napkin. 19 months since Avatarland was announced publicly, and not a single image of concept art has ever been released.

I find that very strange, actually.
