Good Morning all!

We are celebrating DH's birthday and we are taking a short hop to Universal Orlando in May and I was wondering if anyone had a favorite spot to dine. We will only be there 3 nights but need some ideas. I am charting unfamiliar waters in Universal so your guidance is appreciated.

As a side note, even though we are going to WDW in August, I would like to take him over to one of the Disney Resorts for dinner....any sugguestions. We have eaten in many of the resorts but, your recommendations would be great!! I was thinking Jiko???

Thanks a bunch!

There isn't a lot of variety in Uni directly... you have mythos and everything else is counter service. For anything else you basically have to walk around the pond to get to Citywalk where there are lots of dining options.

We ate at mythos.. it was ok. Nice by theme park standards, but not by high end dining standards. Nice to have that kind of option within the park boundaries (its in IOA in the Lost Continent area). We also ate at Mels which was good for typical diner/burger food.

If you are looking for a real meal.. you'll be heading to city walk and the time it takes to walk over there.

Basically this! Myths is your only proper restaurant. City walk has a lot of choices and different cuisines.

Finnegan's Bar and Grill is also a sit down at Universal Studio's Florida. It is really good, but Mythos is the best in the parks.

I want to try Finnegans in Sept, is it open seasonally? I always think its closed when I'm there during September! :dazzle: I've always presumed it was a fake set up!

Mythos is highly over rated, compared to anything at WDW.
I adore Finnigan's, but it's basically the same as Bennigan's. Good food though.
Like everyone else said, your best bet is Citywalk. They have SO many options. Emeril's is nice, but pricey. Everything there is basically on the same level to me.

Now, WDW resorts is a different story. I love Sanaa, at AKL. Very different food there. There's also Kimono at Swan (or Dolphin... can't remember which) and they have VERY good sushi. And of course, the restaurants at the Polynesian are all wonderful! Especially the smaller one... I forget what it's called, but you get UNLIMITED Hawaiian bread, which is spectacular!

The Emeril restaurants are probably the best on property, but I heavily enjoy Mythos every time I go. If you want something with a ton of atmosphere but maybe not the best (but still pretty good) food, then Margaritaville is absolutely hilariously awesome.

As for Jiko, it's absolutely phenomenal. If you like a sort of fusion between African and American cuisine, you'll absolutely love it.

THANKS EVERYONE!!

I think I am going to go with the Kithchen in the Hard Rock for Friday evening (we are staying there), Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge Saturday Night and, Emeril's Tchoup Chop for Sunday.
