Universal Crowds 12/28-30

Don't go. I went Monday. I still had a great time, don't get me wrong. It was just jammed.

If you do go, get there early! We did and the park was empty. We managed to conquer all of Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon and Jurassic Park before 11:30. Everything was a walk on.

Then, the crowds started to disperse from The Wizarding World and everything really got crowded. Expect to be able to barely walk in The Wizarding World, with The Forbidden Journey's wait times peaking at about 140 minutes. Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff were both hour waits. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man was at 100 minutes, The Incredible Hulk was at 60, The Cat in the Hat was at 50. The Toon Lagoon rides were walk ons throughout the day though.

If I were you, I would hold off until a week after New Years.

It took me over two hours just to get to Universal from where I live!(a 45 minute drive!) today...and it was packed so my friend and I turned around and left. Problem is, traffic is a nightmare right now in the Orlando area, from US-27 to Disney, to Universal and International Drive, to downtown, the 408, etc...absolutely nightmarish. It took me over two and a half hours just to get out of there and back to Lakeland!

This is one of the worst weeks to go to the parks.

You can generally tell how crowded it's expected to be just by looking at the show times. Beetlejuice is going from 4 shows a day to 7 or 8, Barney from 5 to 8, Sinbad from 4 to 6, Horror Make-Up from 8 to 14(!), and Terminator's open for 12 or so hours instead of the usual eightish. Needless to say, things are pretty crazy right now.

They are distributing Return Time Passes (think FastPass) just to get into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. That's not for the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction. That's just to get into the land. Forbidden Journey has a consistent 120 wait. Ollivander's is close to 3 hours. Hulk 120 min., Spider-Man 100 min.

Not the best time to visit the parks.

I just can't wrap my head around a 3 hr wait for Ollivander's. I finally got around to seeing it a few weeks ago during the slow season at the beginning of December. Think I waited about 15 or 20 minutes. The show was well done, but very brief and the effects were a little underwhelming. The set design is beautiful, with the towering walls of wand boxes, but...yeah.

Simply can't imagine how ed I'd be if I waited 3 hours to see that.

My brother and I braved it and even took some alternate routes. Didn't ride anything, but still had a good time whilst getting drunk at Finnegan's. And I love Harry Potter, but god damn going near that part of the park makes me want to punch something.

They're building a connecting train between both of the harry potter parts of the parks, right? I feel like eventually they might/could just turn the two parks into one.
