Did you know that disney CD's and DVD's are distributed through Universal? I've worked part time in a local, family owned, record store for years now, and it finally occured to me what it was that I found odd whenever I checked in boxes of product that contained Disney soundtracks or movies. They Were being shipped to us by Universal!!!! Just thought you all might be interested in that...

that's not entirely strange.

in the US, Disney is the representative for Asterix, a french cartoon character which is Disney's #1 competitor in its homeland.

Also, in Europe, Disney promoted Spiderman and Bruce Almighty in theatres.

I'd prefer that you didn't use the words DISNEY and UNIVERSAL in the same post! Wouldn't want to taint the Disney name!

Haha, just kidding

Yeah, I wondered why Bruce Almighty and Pirates Of The Carribean were always advertised as a double set. Then again, Pirates was kept very quiet about it being a Disney production, its a shame they have to do things like that so people don't think it will be for kids and not go. People should be more open minded!

I saw them promote Santa Clause 2 and Pepsi in the same ad....albeit, the theater in which I was at was a "pepsi" one.

I guess business are business, as long as you make the quick bucks is all that matters for mister Eisner.!!!
no wonder why Roy is fighting it .

That does explain the whole Bruce almighty, PoTC thing. I thought i was going mad at first when i put on my PoTC DVD to be faced with a Bruce Almighty trailer and then again vice versa.

Bruce Almighty is distributed by Buena Vista outside of Region 1. I think it may have been co-financed by them as well, though I'm not sure on the latter.

Walt Disney Records does use Universal Music & Video, which is a subdivision of the oh-so-complicated structure of Universal, to distribute some of its products to retailers. Of course Walt Disney Records primarily uses CDs, the only DVD I can think of for which Universal distributes it is Disneymana in Concert, but I'm sure there are others. I don't know why this arrangement exists.

Disney/Touchstone/Miramax, etc. DVDs and VHS are distributed by Buena Vista Home Entertainment, though, and have nothing to do with Universal.
