Ultimate Park Hopper Question - am I breaking the rules?

I have seached all over to figure out the answer to this question to no avail. Hopefully that doesn't mean that I'm going into any wrongful territory.

I have a business trip planned for later this month and decided to stay on property. My wife will be joining me for 3/4 of this trip but must then return home leaving me by myself.

My brother, who lives in FL, will be joining me to keep me company for the remainder of the trip so we can catch up on things. (And so I don't get lonely lol)

I really can't see much of a problem on the room occupancy because it will remain at 2 for the entire trip. However, our UPH passes will be length of stay and presumably be in my name and my wifes name. Would I be breaking the rules if my brother starts using my wifes pass for the remaining 2 days that she isn't there? I can't find any written rules on the usage of these passes but I do remember them having our names printed on them.

We obviously wouldn't have more people entering the parks on any given day than we paid for and I don't recall them ever checking ID upon entering but I also don't feel like getting arrested or worst yet, embarressed at the front gate while we enter.

Thanks for any insight on this!!!

Actually you would be breaking rules. Plus WDW uses that finger-sensor thing which supposedly links your fingerprint (?) to your ticket. I know I've heard of families getting their passes mixed up and having to sort them out before being let in the gate.

My suggestion would be to call WDW and see if you can't split the UPHs between two people.

I would double check with the front desk. On the Ultimate Park Hopper you are not required to do the finger scan thing, that's only for annual park pass holders. I know when I travel with my family my name is printed on everyone's room key which is the same key you use for your Ultimate Park Hopper Pass. A signature is required on the back of the ticket if you are also using the key to charge back to your account. It is better to be safe than sorry and getting turned away at the gate. If you wife is checking out before you they may be able to give her a smaller number of days on her ticket. We've done that before where my husband has the Ultimate and my key was just for charging (oh the days when my cast id from TDS got me into the parks!!) :animwink:

You're right if it's an annual pass, those you can not give to anyone else to use but the Ultimate Park Hopper is different. It's the distance between your fingers which is a very unique from one person to the other, not your fingerprints.

While it may be breaking the rules... You do not use a fingerprint for a UPH nor do they look at the cards or an ID. You slide them in the machine, they come out on the other side and you procede on your way.
PLUS the name of the person that made our reservations and bought our tickets was on our ticket, not our names. So how do they know? I kept all of the tickets in my bag, and when I handed them out, I never made sure we had the correct card number.

cool. thanks for the advise everybody :)

I think I'll call WDW and explain my situation and see how difficult it will be to modify my reservation to keep things legit. While I doubt I would encounter any issues, I also don't want to get kicked out lol.

Thanks again for the replies!

That's good to know - but when we went last fall and had regular 5 day park hoppers we did have to do the finger scan thing.

What I wish they'd do is have some sort of "companion pass." I have an AP and so does my husband, but he's leaving with the Army for most of the year. It would sure be nice if I could go to WDW with my teenage kids one at a time using his pass, and not have to do the per-day park hoppers. Oh well.

Did you have special military passes? We go at least four times a year and I always buy the regular tickets for my son and nephew and they have never had to do the finger scan. Interesting :drevil:

Neither did my kids when they used theirs.
From Deb's site.
What admission media require the use of finger scans?

All WDW annual passes, Florida resident's annual, seasonal and specialty passes ("Play-4-Days", etc.) and other selected admission media such as extended admission passes sold in select European and Asian markets.

To the OP, I would not worry about it. Trust me, you will not be rewarded for your honesty. (not that anyone should be. :))

it is breaking the rules, but,,, on the last day after your wife uses the pass for the last time go to guest services, tell them she lost her pass, the will give her a new one and it will reset in the system when your brother uses the new pass, it will reset to his hand.

The UPH does not use the finger scan. It is indeed breaking the rules, but, this one has nothing in place to enforce it. It is like a regular good old fashioned pass, the difference, when you leave, it is done.
