Am I the only one who hates it when people refer to stupid things as "retarded" or "gay"? I absolutely hate it!
I have no problem with anyone who is either of those, gay or retarded (my sister is disabled, but not retarded, but it still really makes me mad when people say it)
I just don't understand it, ugh...

Another one I hate is the misuse of the word "ghetto". I have family members who were Polish Jews!

At my school, it says right in our Code of Conduct that we are not allowed to say those words, as it is offensive.
If you are caught saying those words you get a detention.

How is "ghetto" misused??

My dictionary (American Heritage, 4th Edition, 2000) defines it as
1) a section of city occupied by a minority group because of social, economic, or legal pressure

2) an often walled quarter in a European city to which Jews were restricted, beginning in the Middle Ages

3) something that resenbles the restriction or isolation of a city ghetto: trapped in ethnic or pink collar magerial ghettos

I agree with you somewhat. Usually when someone says these words they are not meaning to offend anyone. "Retarted" is offensive to me because it is not something anyone can control and it is unfortunate that people take it so lightly.

When someone says "that is gay" it is not meant to be offensive at all. People can use the term very often which tends to be annoying but it is not meant to be offensive to anyone. Usually when someone says this they are referring to something that a gay man is probably going to like more than a straight man.

When someone says something is "Ghetto" they are not referring to the jews or polish ghetto's, they are referring to things that are more urban, such as a "do-rag", or a basketball net with no net.

Everything you say or do offends somebody! I`m sick of it,I`m Italian and It never offends me when people tell italian jokes,heck I tell a few of them myself! Lighten up people!

Darrel, calling something stupid "retarded" probably wouldn't offend me so much if I didn't know so many people who are close to me that are disabled or retarded.
So, I hope I didn't come off as a person who doesn't like to have fun or anything, heh, it just really bugs me.
I also heard people calling something stupid "Jewish" :hurl:

Calling something stupid "jewish" is just plain stupid, it doesn`t even make sense since Jews are very smart. But I too know alot of mentally challenged people and I still call something stupid, retarded from time to time, not even thinking of anything bad,but most of the time if something is stupid,I`ll just say that is just plain stupid! I just think our country has become so HYPER sensitive that anything that anyone does anymore offends somebody! Look at what they did to Pirates of the caribean,just because a few "FEMINIST" groups complained about the ride! I`m sorry,but that is what Pirates did in those days they pillaged plundered and raped! you can`t PC history,for if you forget about history,you are mostlikely going to repeat it.
