Couldn't get my vacation locked in at work till now. I usually fly for around $268 and now flights are all 368! Thats an extra $300 for our vacation! Do they ever lower flights closer to your trip? We need to fly out April 25th and not sure what to do. HELP!:(

I read an article not too long ago that stated 54 days before a trip was the average lowest fairs. Our travel agent also told us not to book flights any sooner than 2 months out. We are going May 26 and I have no intention to buy airfare this soon. Hope this helps you feel a little better!!!

Depends on where you are, how frequent flights leave, etc.

If they've already gone up $100, I wouldn't wait around. I'd get what you can now, while there is still selection (if you all want to sit together) as the closer you get to the travel date, you may only get a seat here or there and be separated.

Even though the price of fuel is going down, that doesn't mean that airlines are going to add more flights or cheapen the existing ones. You could luck into a deal depending on the airline (I get emails from Frontier about $39 flights and such), but if your choices are limited, I'd just bite the bullet and book what you can now, otherwise you're going to watch the plane fill up and the price go up without you having the ability to board.

Looks like most flights are almost full now. I fly from Portland Maine so there probably won't be more flights added. There are flights on turbo prop planes but I hate to fly so those are out. May have to adjust my trip but I really don't want to.

Is there a way to drive to Boston and/or Manchester and fly out? Maybe take the prop and connect in one of those cities?

Have you tried to adjust your days? For our trip next month we switched from flying out on a Friday morning to flying out Thursday night and it saved our family of 3 $350. It cost another nights hotel stay at CSR but all in all we came out $200 ahead and we can start at the parks first thing in the morning instead of mid afternoon on Friday.

As a point of reference on time, we booked about 3 months ago and I just looked up prices and it would cost about $700 more.

I've found prices great 6 months out and 3 months out. It all depends on a variety of factors including time of year. April is a bad time for cheap fares so if you find one that looks good grab it! It may not come around again.

Have you checked Southwest, they usually have cheaper fares than other airlines.

Another thing that we are considering doing is using One-ways and using two different airlines. Cost being one, and the arrival times being another.

It depends on your airline. We typically fly JetBlue and they always release the lowest fares first, and then increase them as the travel date draws near. Other airlines do it differently. (Googling "when to book" and the name of your airline might net you some advice from frequent travelers.)
