Uber to Resorts

Hello!

Apologies in advance if this question has been asked.

We are going to Disney World next week and I had a plan to Uber from our hotel, Coronado Springs, to Riviera Resort to check out the resort and then catch the sky liner to Epcot.

Will the guard at the gate let us in if we are not staying there?

Can't answer the question, but why not take the bus to Hollywood Studios and then the Skyliner to Riviera?

I went to WDW last month and took an Uber straight from the airport to Wilderness Lodge for lunch (but we were staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge). We told the security guard that we were going to have lunch at Geyser Point (which doesn't require reservations) and he let us right in. I've been to WDW a few times during the pandemic and never had a problem visiting a resort, even if I didn't have a dining reservation.

Riviera is different because it’s a skyliner resort.

It might depend on the guard you get. You could try putting in a mobile order and see if they will count that as a “reservation” and let you in. Some places have more trouble than others.

Not sure what that has to do with what I said. Riviera still has dining options that don't require a reservation. Tell the guard you're going to one of them for a meal. Or you could Uber/bus to one of the other Skyliner resorts and take that into Riviera. I've done that twice during the pandemic and walked right into the lobby.

Taking a bus to any resort is no problem. It's the best way to get there with no trouble. But Ubering or driving to a Skyliner resort is hit or miss at best. Just as it is at a monorail resort or Epcot area resort. Basically any resort with easy access to the parks. Using a mobile order isn't a guaranteed entry past the guard shack. My friend tried it a few months ago at Riviera (by car) and was turned away.

The problem is people trying to park at these resorts and walk or ride the Skyliner into the parks to save the parking fee.

They (Uber) can't drop you of in front of the gate?
There are designated drop off areas at the front of Epcot, AK and DHS. The designated drop off for MK is at the TTC, meaning you must ride the ferry (quickest) or monorail to the MK.

Ride share drivers with passengers who do not have a resort or dining reservation at the Contemporary will not be allowed in. (Bay Lake Tower shares the entrance.) I have watched guards turn cars away.

If you're in an Uber you're not parking, you're getting dropped off.

It’s not my policy. It’s Disney’s. So I won’t try to make it make sense.

Have you taken an Uber to Riviera recently without an ADR?
Not to Riviera but I've taken Ubers to other Skyliner and monorail resorts without an ADR during the pandemic and it's been no problem. I took the Skyliner to Riviera last month just to visit and that was easy as well. There's pretty much always a way into the resorts.

Taking the Skyliner (or a bus) to another resort has never been an issue, nor is it likely to be.

We were staying at the GF and wanted to take the Monorail to CR for lunch. We tried to use mobile ordering as we were boarding the monorail, and we received a banner that said mobile ordering at CR was only available to CR resort guests. We later found out, it’s to prevent people from parking there and walking to the MK.

When we took an Uber to the Poly for breakfast at Kona Cafe, the guard made one of us scan our MB to verify we had an ADR. I can see how maybe taking an Uber to Pop or CB to use the skyline might be different than trying to get into the Riviera without an ADR. I mean, Toppolino's requires ADRs, I'm sure there's not a huge demand to come drive/uber in to eat at the QS. And the bar is at the pool. If I were the OP, and I really wanted to make sure to go to Riviera, I'd uber to Swolphin and walk to the Skyline and visit that way. Or make ADRs?
