Uber from long beach

So last time I came to Disneyland I flew into long beach airport. Loved it. And it's way affordable. I'll continue doing this. I took a shuttle from the airport to Disneyland, and it was pretty overpriced and not the best experience. Now I love uber. Use it all the time at home. So I used that to get back from Disneyland to long beach airport. Wonderful experience as usual. Now, my question is. I know I can be dropped off by uber at the airport. But can I be picked up there? I know some airports don't allow uber pickups yet. Anyone have a definitive answer to this?

There is an Uber thread in the WDW section and a driver said that some people will take free shuttles from the airport to nearby hotels and get an Uber from there. You could try that.

From what I can tell from Googling it, the answer is no pick ups at the LA/OC airports. I found this article that seems to support that: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/airport-647771-companies-state.html

There was this one too though, so you might try one of these cabs:

BTW, Google is usually the fastest way to find answers like that.

yeah, I've done some extensive Googling on this one. But I couldn't find anything definitive. You can find more information about the larger airports, but Long Beach is small enough that it's hard to find anything out about it.

Uber is allowed to be openly used for pick ups and drop off at almost all major SoCal airports, but Long Beach is the lone unknown.

LAX was a holdout, but last month the LAX authority allowed Uber (and Lyft) to operate openly at LAX.

John Wayne Airport, the nicest and closest airport to Disneyland, has allowed Uber and Lyft since March.

Burbank Bob Hope International, Ontario International, and Palm Springs International also allow Uber and Lyft to operate openly.

I can't find a solid answer for Long Beach Airport however. I have half a mind to just call them tomorrow and ask. I agree that Long Beach Airport is a fabulous and convenient airport for Disneyland visits, second only to the closer and nicer John Wayne International.

Sitting here in the den watching After The Bell and the 20%+ drop in VW stock today.... and all the car news reminded me to call the airport about Uber.

According to the woman in the Long Beach Airport Administration office I spoke with Uber cars can drop-off, but are not allowed to pick you up at the curb. She was very insistent that an Uber car "needs a permit" to pick up anyone at LGB. (Your friendly government at work, folks!)

You would need to walk or shuttle away from the airport curb to get an Uber at Long Beach airport.

The private business that @catmom46 mentioned looks like a great option.

4401 Donald Douglas Drive
Long Beach, CA 90808

Long Beach Airport is a very compact facility. That office building at 4401 Donald Douglas Drive is actually closer to baggage claim than a lot of the airport's official short term parking structure and surface long term parking lot. It's about a 90 second walk past the rental car building, and it's conveniently located right next to the Public Affairs Office. While you wait for your Uber there, you might catch the ear of someone from Public Affairs and let them know their anti-Uber stance is not very friendly to the paying public. ;)

I got ahold of long beach airport today and this is what I was told.

"Uber and Lyft are not permitted to pick up from Long Beach Airport. They may drop you off at LGB upon your return."

"Long Beach Airport is a municipal airport, therefore any decision regarding the changing or addition of fees and/or introducing a new type of Ground Transportation service would require City Council approval.

The City is analyzing the ride share issue, reviewing what other airports are doing and will make a determination in the future."
