UAE now top contender for Epcot World Showcase expansion?

I love it when someone says that a guy that has convinced a large number of powerful people to pay him millions of dollars per year to run their company is also an idiot. All the while so many of the smart people in the world are scratching to buy bread for their table. Something just doesn't add up. I'd let someone call me an idiot for just half of what he pulls down. Where do I sign up?

Wait, we have far to many of them hanging around now. I may die broke but no one will ever say I was overpaid. So I've got that going for me!
To be fair, plenty of people who are genuinely stupid are also rich and powerful and have millions of people worshipping them. I wouldn’t call Iger an idiot per se, more so an out of touch executive with no creative bones in his body, but it’s totally possible for an idiot to run a company that makes money.

True, but in this case he is not an idiot, he is clever at doing what is best for himself. If you want idiot all you have to see is the other Bob. Now he was genuinely stupid when it came to public relations. Everyone, no matter how dumb they might be has certain things that they can do and do well. In my mind there is a connection between smart and evil. The ones that can exploit the masses to get there own pockets lined are not stupid they are evil. And they are good at being evil. The really dumb ones don't last long in the spotlight. Case in point, I can't even remember the last name of the "other" Bob. All I can remember is that he was big and bald. Bald is not a good look for high end executives, especially shaved head bald.

I'm sure someone at WDI would relish the opportunity to make some Mad Max jokes with an Australian Cars attraction...
Now I want to see a fast moving cars attraction where Disney Influencer War Boys sacrifice their lives for the chance that Immortan Josh notices them and confers them an invitation to Valhalla (cupcake party)

While many would want Animal Kingdom to be left alone, the type of road hike rough terrain Cars Attraction would look more exciting in a vast environment far out just like Kilamanjaro Safari where the cars would suit especially the Australian car from Cars 2. Add Bluey to the mix and you have there Australia! A true Australian expedition with animals rather than a tight area with TBA on one side and HM on the other!

The UAE has very little in the way of traditional architecture; it is a decidedly modern place, built almost from scratch in the last few decades. With its overwhelmingly historical tone, World Showcase is very unlikely to feature anything quite so contemporary.
This would fit right in with the way current management is remodeling and updating the various resort hotels -- American Blah with a themed throw pillow.

I wonder what landmarks they could use for Australia if they didn't have that opera house (reminds me of the TV show "Lost"....all of the bits they had in Australia, they shoehorned in the opera house in the background just so all of the dumb people understood "oh they're in AUSTRALIA").
Speaking of Lost, I always forget that that was a Disney show. It’s far too irrelevant now but I wonder why they never did anything with it in the parke. Hollywood Studios would’ve been perfect for a show or experience. If they ever do Escape Rooms like Universal, Lost would be a good IP for that too!

(I’m watching it for the first time right now so it’s fresh on the mind haha. Just started Season 3!)

nothing idk. People recognize Australia off of that and Sydney Harbor Bridge.

What makes Australia special would be the wildlife for AK. Just having the Opera House and one restaurant and quick service would make it similar to Canada, Australia would definitely need a film to make it complete.

The problem with a Cars attraction at Animal Kingdom (well, one of them...), is that there are no animals in the world of Cars.

As for what architecture to sure for an Australia pavilion beyond trying to re-create Sydney Harbour, as an Australian I am also drawing a blank! That said, the UK pavilion doesn't lean particularly heavily on architectural landmarks and could provide a model for a pavilion that leant more on either natural landscapes or some kind of non-specific city or townscape. Or just a collection of the "big things" we like to build as roadside attractions (e.g. a pineapple, koala, banana, etc...) to keep it suitably tacky!

Good point about the UK pavilion, and yeah Cars World doesn't have animals!

I think the thought process is more of the vehicle/terrain; rather than the theming of "cars;" and to that note, I agree! A rough ride through the outback type of experience seems like a good fit for this tech (rather than Cars in MK).

You're not stretching far enough. They have (VW) bugs that have to be at least partially organic matter because of their wings. They also have to have had something that could fossilize at some point or there would be no gas. The Dinoco logo pretty solidly implies dinosaurs.

There's also the Screaming Banshee from the one short, which is clearly a legendary creature in their world. They love twisting the "imagined" part of the original pitch to try and pretend it always meant something it clearly didn't mean, so that can be done here as well. It was definitely imagined in the world of Cars, therefore it fits!

They've already decided having animals in the lands isn't important anymore, so no worries there.

Perfect fit for Animal Kingdom.
