Two years ago I went to WDW and I was lucky to ride in the front car of the monorail, there I talked to the driver. According to him the next park will be rollercoaster based. He also mentioned that the monorail will be extended to all parks, and that all resorts will be connected to the parks through either monorail or "people movers." Also, this past June I went on the Disney cruise line, there I met some counselors who said that Disney is "planning" on making a pacific cruise, a Alaska cruise, a Japan or Asia cruise, and a euro cruise...all of the ships will be different from the current Magic and Wonder. If u what the movie which is shown on the DCL about the making of the Magic u will see blue sketches of possible Disney Magic ships, but I have been told that those are for the new ships. Atleast one ship will be very very futuristic. Finally, I was told that Disney is in the process of designing a water flume roller coaster that will go upside down. This will be done by having the riders go in a tube, I dunno if this will ever work but that what I heard they were developing.:D

Remember that this was two years ago. Plans have a habit of, and often do, change. I'd plan on seeing BK first. Monorail expansion is horribly expensive, so the parks in existence would have to be doing really well for them to build new track.

Welcome to the boards!!

Like Fievel said... two years is a long time for a Disney plan. Monorail expansion is expensive and I think that is the sole reason we haven't seen it already. Regarding you log-flume statement.... I'm sure Disney has every conceivable ride system in planning and/or development.

With the current economic problems, I can't imagine Disney building a 5th theme park in the next 2-4 years. I think Beastly Kingdom is their highest priority right now.

Remember the first rule of WDW rumors... cast members are told almost NOTHING. Any cast member telling you things like that is either trying to look big or just relaying the latest rumor. The info that Steve posts here is going to be a lot more accurate than what you hear at WDW. :)

My favorite part of sitting up front is getting an honorary monorail driver's license. The last time I got pulled over by a policeman, I showed it to him and he didn't give me a ticket!:p

One of my close friends drove monorail when he was part of the WDCP. When we went to Disneyland when Wisconsin was at the Rose Bowl, we sat up front with the driver, and when he mentioned that he drove monorail, we got passes to skip any line in the park.

about the monorail expansions

In response to the expansions of the monorails to all the parks and to more resorts...

I was told this in 1989, upon the opening of MGM! A cast member told me to look for the expansion in less than 3 years. (1992) NEVER HAPPEND!

I was reading on a monrail enthusiasts site, and found the estimated cost of Disneys monorail systems is somewhere in the millions per mile! (including the estimated cost of the trains)

I dont see disney doing this, at least anytime soon.

They are now investing money into upgrading their bus system to be more efficient. Also, They are mentioning maybe building a fast train to Orlando International Airport. And no mention of the monorails.

Personally, I hate busses. Which is why i dont mind paying the money to stay at one with monorail access.

For the sake of disney. I strongly believe that they should at least invest in a monoral connecting the exsisting system to at least the Wilderness lodge. And then making an extention from epcot to the Studios.
This will alleviate the bus crowds, and maybe make the Wilderness lodge more desirable!
Let me know what you think!

I think the idea of a Monorail link to MGM would be great as it would make travel from the Monorail resorts easier, however I still like to get to MGM by taking the Monorail to Epcot walking to International gateway and taking the boat, I know it adds time to the Journey but it is a lovely way to go.
