Has anybody ever snorkeled with the sharks in shark reef?:lookaroun

Is there an extra charge for this or is it included in the hopper pass.

It sounds like it would be really neat....

Also any idea when the water parks would close in May? For some reason I'm thinking 6, but hoping they would be open a little longer.

 The snorkekl equipment is provided free of charge and the experience comes with admission. I have snorkeled with sharks (though not there) and it is a great experience that you will nver forget. If you want the ultra snorkeling equipment(you don't need it) , it costs extra. Hope I could be of help!

Wow....This will be really neat!!! I've been snorkeling before with baby piranas? spelling? (ouch... just little nibbles) but never with sharks. Our kids will just love it!!!

Thank for the info... Was wondering if i could take some video moments or if you would be to far away?

If you snorkeled previously this is not a big deel, since you are in a pool and you can't go deeper. So, my advice is pay the little fee and ask for the surface-air snorkeling which is said to be an introduction to scuba diving.

the place that rents those out said "closed for season" in February! But...we could still snorkel...which I love! But the water is FRIGID...I suppose it's great when it's 90 out...

Fee?

"pay the little fee" i thought it was included in the admission price?

it surely should be open in may because it gets pretty hot down there.

The snorkeling is free, but they also have scuba diving air tanks that you can rent and use in another part of the pool.

Shark Reef is very cold so be prepared. Also the sharks are bottom dwellers so you don't get a great view of them, but the fish surround you.

They are nurse sharks and I think maybe also bonnet heads. They tend to stay at the bottom and the water is colder compared to the water that is eveywhere else at Typhoon Lagoon. I think that it is around 72 or so because that is the temp of the ocean water that the sharks and other marine life live in. I highly recomend this though it is a lot of fun and neet to do.

However, doing Scuba Diving in Shark Reef is like using a snorkel in a jacuzzi, it's not worth the money for the little space you have to explore. If you are willing to learn Scuba Diving that's another story, it's a great place to start since it's ultra-safe.

It's a blast!

I did the shark reef when I was 12, I was a little scared at first but it's not that bad considering nothing swims around you that much. It's soooo cold though, you shiver when your just standing there waiting to get in. But it's so much fun, I'm doing it again in June! Also, if you go inside the ship, you can watch people snorkel, every once in awhile you will see someone panic and they will start kicking there legs and panicing. Oh yeah and another thing, it's free, and you can't kick your legs (fear of kicking someone behind you).
