Typhoon Expansion?

I found this on Screamscape.... any truth in this?

Resort News - (5/16/03) The latest rumor kicking around claims that some old plans to finally expand Typhoon Lagoon may have been approved for 2005. I’m not sure how big or small this expansion may be right now, but we have a description of perhaps the most exciting new attraction to be added to the the park, and it sounds quite a bit like it will use the NBGS Master Blaster technology of shooting riders around in tubes with jets of water. Anyone know more?

That has been a rumor now for a long time. What they are trying to do is compete to be on the top list and to do that they will build the type of slide they have at Schlitterban (Sp?) which is now considered the number one water park.

I hope this happens, it is time for Typhoon Lagoon to get some more thrills.

Schlitterbahn is a great water park. I've driven from St. Louis down to San Antonio just to spend a few days there.
They have "uphill" water rides that are super fun to ride. If Typhoon had the wave pool plus some exciting slides, it'd be a much better park. Schlitterbahn does not have near as good a wave pool as Typhoon Lagoon.

Schlitterbahn is great! We go prolly about 4 or 5 times during the summer when we're not in Flordia. Its only about 1 1/2 hours from here in Austin to New Braunfels. The Master Blaster is by far the best water ride out there. If Disney were to build a ride like the Master Blaster, I think it would be a great addition to TL.

Typhoon isnt trying to compete to be the #1 water park. They are attempting to increase capacity and give guests more to do while in the park. The expansion is set to go in the area of Out-of-the-Way Kay and will include more that one slide. It has been mapped out and completely designed for about two years. It is just waiting for the budget to be approved.

well.. they have #2 already... no reason they can't also have #1..
